But if the prices continue to climb, it isn't going to matter because I will be walking!
Alisha
Re: Anyone else seeing this yet? (pic) I went out this morning to get all my errands out of the way.... and the gas was $3.19 a gallon (for the cheap stuff!).... while I was out it was changed to $3.29 a gallon.... and when I passed the exxon as I cut into my road, the sign was being changed AGAIN. In Charleston, WV they are limiting people to buying $20 of gas at a time...... and in Monroe County (WV) rumor is they'll be out of gas before next week. VermontHunter
Re: Anyone else seeing this yet? (pic) I think it's getting ready to happen here also...the price of Gas jumped from $2.99 to $3.59 in a matter of hours here..... The brokers are actually holding tankers loaded with gasoline at the borders here until the prices go up..... I got this info from a very good source, my wife actually works for a company that transports fuel out of montreal....I think it's time for the government to step in and do something... This stuff is actually starting to worry me.....Who knows what civil people will do when the frustration level just maxis out..... and a 60 cent increase just may be the spark folks have been waitting for.... Alisha
Re: Anyone else seeing this yet? (pic) Oh shut up john! Dad and I had plans to go visit his brother in Charleston for the weekend so we could head up to my cousins house and scout for deer season but with the gas as expensive as it is..... I doubt we'll be going. Dad's a cheapskate! Won't pay to fill up his V8 silverado.... and he definately won't ride the neon up there. Can't say I blame him though. Guest Andrea
Re: Anyone else seeing this yet? (pic) Yes...we are seeing that here also. Not surprised though. It happens after EVERY major hurricane. The surprising part is the outrageous price. Glad I filled up yesterday.

The_Kat
Re: Anyone else seeing this yet? (pic) WE should be ok here in OKIEHOMA Dwinn, we have big plants here, the shortages is back east at the places farthest from the oil refineries. Cost will go up, but I doubt we will see rationing here....I hope at least

Rhino
Re: Anyone else seeing this yet? (pic) That's the norm around here these days since the storm Alisha. Part of it for us is power outages we still have around the metropolitan area of Jackson, MS. The other is most of our gasoline was coming from refineries on the MS coast and southeast Louisiana. At least for now those refineries are out of operation until after the rescue/recovery operations are completed and power is restored to the coastal refineries. Katrina knocked out 10% of the USA's ability to refine crude oil. I waited in line for over 2 hours yesterday to get gas. I couldn't find a station that had power or gas the 2 previous days. I heard that when the access routes are cleared it will take 7 to 10 days to restore power to the refineries. Hopefully all piplines will be repaired by then and barge traffic can also get underway to move gas north up the Mississippi River from those refineries again too. ruttinbuc
Re: Anyone else seeing this yet? (pic) I think it depends on where the gas is distributed from. The southern supply chain is broken. Here are some prices after a short ride last night in and around my town. The below $3 stations were closed and more than likely their prices will change today. They can't agree on a price or how much they should profiteer.
Rhino
Re: Anyone else seeing this yet? (pic) BTW, the futures price on gasoline dropped $0.2253 today on speculation that the gulf coastal refineries will be on line sooner than expected. Nick
Re: Anyone else seeing this yet? (pic) Sorry Alisha but gas prices have dropped 3 times today......I dont think they would be going down if they were running out. Thats in Michigan anyways. preacherman
Re: Anyone else seeing this yet? (pic) the reason for the shortage around here is the panic that is taking place in our area. I hope that things don't get any worse, but I am not planning on changing my plans just because of it. I may regret it later this week, but oh well.

billygoat
Re: Anyone else seeing this yet? (pic) Nick's right, (good grief, did I just say that???). Futures are showing the barrel going down, and plans are to have the refineries up and going soon. Bush is also debating letting some of the reserves out of holding to increase the supply. You can't help but think that gas was going to break the $3.00 mark anyways (with Laborday and all), Katrina, just made for a good excuse. (at least someone's making money)
