SaskBucks
Been wanting to build a box blind to seat 2 people, with a window you can slide (gets really cold up here in late season)...anyone have any plans for something like this? Thanks for the input
Adjam5
Re: Anyone have box blind (ground blind) plans? Do you need it to be elevated on on the ground? Try this link http://www.deerhuntingstandplans.com/ They have some good info there that might be of use to you. This is what I built from a old machinery crate. I just stained it last week to help protect the wood, and not yet finished doing the camo to it with black and brown spray paint. I have sat in this box for MANY hours at 0 degrees, with a heater of course and been comfortable for 2 people. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a100/ADjam5/stainedshed2.jpg
wtnhunt
Re: Anyone have box blind (ground blind) plans? No plans really, just kind of drew out on paper what I wanted and built it. Built a 6X6 elevated blind. Used 2 inch square tubing for the tower section. Using a skill saw I cut grooves approximately 1/4 inch deep in the top and bottom of the shooting shelves(2 x 6s layed flat) for the plexiglass windows to slide in. Framed edges in with 2x4s around the windows, used 1 inch square for the frame around the outside shell. Put on a shingled plywood roof, then later on put ondura roofing over that. Have also since added exterior shades over the windows to keep rain off the plexiglass.

VTbowman
Re: Anyone have box blind (ground blind) plans? Heres mine. 4x8 all welded steel frame, OSB walls, tin roof. Just use wood vs steel and it should work well, but I would add additional studs vs. the 4' spacing I have due to the strength of steel. My box is bolted to the lower frame. My windows hinge up and in made from 1x4s and plexy glass. It seats 2 adults and ALL their gear and heater nicely. wtnhunt
Re: Anyone have box blind (ground blind) plans? [ QUOTE ] i like the frame u built and dislike it...it is great if you only hunt flat ground, i don't have the choice i always hunt on uneven ground so mine is a tripod design, so the ground doesn't have to be even at all. and i am going to modiify it so i can put it standing on its own on the hillside. still your design is good and i am shure you will do good with that one. is the weight too much to handle moving it from place to place? [/ QUOTE ] This ground here is not flat by any means, it is all rolling hills. I had to dig some to level it up and get it how I wanted it. Poured concrete around the legs to prevent any settling and used tie downs to keep it down. I used our tractor loader bucket with make shift forks to lift the box onto the tower. This is a permanent location.
