HarvDog
I would really like to carry new Ruger 35 magnum on my thigh but haven't been able to find a tactical thigh holster for this revolver. I picked up a hip holster (Uncle Mike's Sidekick) in camo, of course. Do you think this holster will work with this thigh holster setup ? I have emailed Specter about this but haven't heard back yet. If this won't work, any suggestions?
Guest ronin
Re: Tactical Thigh Holster The thigh holsters are great for tactical work and I can see them in a field environment for hunting, etc. I wore a similar rig on the street and during manhunts in the woods. The only drawback is training. It is a whole new ball game as opposed to hip holsters. If you have no experience with hip holsters than you won't have a muscle memory problem with a thigh holster during stressful situations. Regardless of what style you decide on, train, train, train. Practice drawing and shooting while standing, sitting and moving, etc. Also, look at shoulder holster rigs. I really like them for revolvers. HarvDog
Re: Tactical Thigh Holster Just heard back from Specter. Sounds like the M-12 Drop Leg Extender kit is designed to work with the M-12/UM-84/UM-92 holster only. Any ideas about where I can either get this setup for my current holster or a complete tactical thigh holster for my revolver?

hangunnr
Re: Tactical Thigh Holster Can't say I've ever seen a thigh holster for a relatively long barreled revolver. You may well have to make your own..... hangunnr

HarvDog
Re: Tactical Thigh Holster I'm gonna make my own. I should have enough straps in the garage. If anyone has a tactical holster and can post some pix of it, that would be helpful. Thanks.
HarvDog
Re: Tactical Thigh Holster Well, I grabbed some strapping and the sewing machine and came up with my own thigh holster using the hip holster I bought. Seems to work well and cost me less than $5. PLUS...I still get to use my CAMO holster. I'll post pix after lunch.

hangunnr
Re: Tactical Thigh Holster The only thing I would consider adding to your rig is a string or something to that effect at the muzzle end to keep it securely anchored to your leg. The cowboy rigs use a tie off at the muzzle end for this purpose. I've got some chute cord that would work well, if you would like some, PM me a mailing addy and I'll get some sent your way. hangunnr

oo_buck
Re: Tactical Thigh Holster Just my opinion..... Instead of a parachute cord leg tie, why not add one more strap?????? Even a smaller strap? Just my $.

My initial thinking is that it will be much easier to add a cord rather than a strap.
