First success of the season

Well I got up at 7am and went out for a morning squirrel hunt. I nailed gray squirrel on the ground while slowly moving down an old logging trail. I spent maybe the next hour and a half slowly stalking through my hunting area, listening for falling nuts. Finally I hear the wonderful sound of Beech nuts raining down from a Beech tree. I sneak up and find a gray squirrel way up near the top. I have to wait until he moves to get a shot and then I find there are 2 squirrels in the tree. Well I got one of them and missed the other one (I hate pine trees, lol) so that is 2 gray squirrels on my record. Anyone else have any luck?

Whats a warble?

[/ QUOTE ]

They are a big black grub that burrows under the skin of squirrels, rabbits, and sometimes deer. They are the larval stage of what is known as the bot fly. Although some people don't like to eat squirrels with these on them, there is nothing wrong with it. They don't damage the quality of the meat. When they get on the squirrel, they only go into the skin, so it is safe for humans to eat the squirrel once the skin and warble is removed. If you want more info, just do a google search on warbles and you will find plenty of info on them. Hope this helps.
