Re: need suggestions on bow hunting???

Get up high, down wind, 20 yds off deer trails, shower before hunting in scentless soap, use scent eliminator when making your way to your stand not pee cover up and get to your stand early and stay late in the morning and the evening. Stay still, quiet and alert. You might want to see where the deer are concentrated in fields and where they go to and come from. As long as they are up wind of you, they shouldn't see you as long as you wear the proper RealTree camo. If you hunt field edges, stay maybe 10 yds off the edge but always stay concealed by either branches that give you opening shots or shooting lanes and always high up as in 25 feet or higher. Always wear your safety belt (full body harness) and practice practice practice shooting. Hunt as often as you can and remember that to kill a deer bowhunting you first have to be in the woods. Oh yeah, watch as many old Dan Fitzgerald bowhunting movies as you can. He can teach you more than I ever could. Don't pay attention to all the adds that say you have to buy their product to kill a deer. As long as your arrow hits where you are aiming and the deer can't smell or see you while in shooting range, you are half way there. Good luck.

Try to get stands around 20 feet or higher, however make sure there is cover around you too. If the cover is at 15 feet then set your stand at that hieght.

Play the wind as best you can. Wind does switch and change so just try to stay down woind, move if neccesary.

Be as clean as possible to include brushing your teeth. No sense in washing in scent free soap and having last night dinnner still on your breath.

Stay still and quiet. Which means be as comfortable as humanly possible. A hard seat can make you squirm in a short time and ruin a hunt. Also, If you bring snacks, put them into zip lock bags not the packaging they came it.

Try to scout at a distance with binos. Hang stands a few weeks in advance, trim lanes and leave the area alone until the opening day.

Be in the stand an hour before you expect deer to be there. Most do an hour before 1st light and some stay ALL day.

Be proficient to 20 yards at minimum with your bow. That mean EVERY shoot in the bull everytime.

No closer then 10 yards from a trail, 15 to 20 is better, and if hunting a curved trail then stay on the inside of the curve as a deers eyes will naturally be looking down it not across a curve.

"Try" to not enter and exit the stand site the same way.

Ummm, I guess thats a good start.

like these guys have said watch your scent!! bowhunting is a close range thing. Also, I would recommend hunting funnels to aid in bringing deer within range.
