Re: Your opinion on multiple stand sites?

multiple stands keeps the deer from picking up on your patterns...I have watched deer look directly at stands on property that I hunt when people have hunted the same stands in the same trees for years.

Re: Your opinion on multiple stand sites?

Your going to need multiple stands to hunt from for alot of different reasons. First of all you cant always hunt your fav. stand because you never know from day to day if the wind is going to be in your favor or not. You also need to diff. stand setups because when hunting pressure comes in modern gun season the deer may not always use the core area you have your stand in, the pressure may cause them to seek better cover. Therefore you would need to adjust your stand or have another stand in an inticipated area where the deer might seek cover from all the hunters. Hope this helps.

Good luck.....

The more, the better in my opinion. I have two out and my brother has two more. If you only have one stand, you put a lot of pressure on that area and, in my opinion, really reduce your chance of seeing a big buck.

No doubt, not only does more stands give you a better variety to play the wind but it greatly reduces hunting pressure in one area. I think a mistake alot of people make is overhunting one area. Then they complain they dont see much after a while, it takes knowing when to go in and stay out to be successful.

Re: Your opinion on multiple stand sites?

I agree with everyone on this post, you can't seriously hunt deer while only using one stand or one blind.

The most important thing to understand is that even if deer don't know that a tree has a stand on it, they don't always take the same route - especially bucks.

The wind is obviously a huge factor also. Most experienced hunters will put a stand on both sides of a well-used trail and will use each depending on the wind direction.

Also, If deer do get used to seeing a stand and frequently check it before approaching an area, a good idea is to post a stand further up the trail and tag them before they get close to it.

Stands are expensive but you've got all year to build or buy them one at a time. I've been working on my stands for the past 3 months - once or twice a month. I've got 3 total and will have 2 or 3 more in the next month. You just have to do whatever it takes to maximize your chances.

Re: Your opinion on multiple stand sites?

Without question, multiple stand set ups. I spend a lot of days deer hunting every year so I want multiple stand options to choose from. The 1st thing I consider when choosing which stand to hunt is the wind. Hunting a stand with the wrong wind can ruin it quicker than just about anything else. I also don't want to over pressure the deer in one area either, especially here at home. I prefer to hunt a stand and let it rest for 5 to 7 days so the deer continue to use the area undisturbed between hunts. That really makes a big difference in the number of deer sightings while sitting in a stand. It's real easy to burn out a stand over hunting deer down here. Worse during firearms season when more hunters are in the woods. I share a 3,000 acre tract of land with 22 other members in our club along with their guest. About 10 of those members are bowhunters. If someone else has already planned to hunt an area where I thought about hunting, I still have several other options to choose from. How many depends on the wind again and how recent I hunted other stands for that wind. Also if someone else has just hunted close to where one of my stands is located or I let someone hunt my stand, I'll let it rest just as if I hunted it myself. Even when I hit the road for other states, I take 4 tree stands with me. I have a lot more than that here at home but like I said, I spend a lot a days in the deer woods. wink.gif
