Re: Thermacell Insect Repellent

Yeah I was a little skeptical myself...one evening my buddy and his son were going fishing at the lake for a few hours and asked me to join them.

I wore jeans and a t-shirt and we were there until 1am and I never got bit by anything. At one point the butane was empty and I noticed the bugs were getting a little worse...he changed the fuel and fired it back up....nothing after that.

It really did work!

Re: Thermacell Insect Repellent

I have heard a lot of good things about Thermacell, but haven't tried it yet. I found them at Wally-World but the price was 24.97 + 5.97 for extra pads and gas cylinder, and I think it was 8.97 for the holster.

Maybe next season but for this season I'll stick with my .97 mosquito net.

Re: Thermacell Insect Repellent

The refills come with a one butane bottle and three pads. The bottle lasts around twelve hours and the pads are good for two to three hours a piece all for around $6. If you are hunting and are getting tore up by the bugs and someone says give me a couple of bucks and I'll keep them away I would gladly hand them the money. They work great as long as you don't have much wind. We have a lot of those no see um's the little knats that must be two wings and a giant fang. They are hard to see but you know when you've been bit because your scratching the spot for an hour. It works great for them! They are now selling a larger pack that comes with 4 bottles and twelve pads for around $20 Well worth it.
