superguide
Just got home from 2 1/2 days archery hunting with Ty and his buddy. Had to stop at Saskatchewan's Cabella's (Wholesale Sports) on way down so didn't get hunting till 5'00 P'M-we just started down a little hay trail to our hunting spot when the boys spotted a 170 plus buck bedded under a small bush. I waited and they made a perfect slow stalk and came in behind him at 10 yards or less-talk about a Mexican stand off. The boys were at full draw when Ty mouth grunted to get him to stand-he peeked over his shoulder and blew out of there. One for the deer. We carried on a few hundred yards and saw a real good droptine buck-Ty's buddy (Shane) had first shot-after a grueling paper-rock-scissors-marathon unfortunately he missed him. Hunted hard rest of day-passed one very good buck up as I hadn't got permission there yet. The next morning we hunted some tough country-got on top of one nice buck but he won that battle lol. It wasa very hot so we just drove around and glassed finger draws in midday -the boys doubleteamed on a doe and Shane got his first bowkill-perfect double lung at 50 yards. Went back to where I'd passed on that good buck later in the day-two great bucks were there-i snuck into about 30 yards(around a stubborn porcupine lol) the bucks were face on to me grazing-was waiting for a better shot angle when a tractor came down the trail and scared them-LUCKY DEER. The next day was very hot 90 plus-we hunted hard but let our guard down and bumped a buck we probably should of got a shot at. Saw several good deer and one awesome bull moose in our travels. Went to my hotspot that night had two good bucks circle behind me and smell me-they blew out but I hid behind my bow and crawled up to within 75 yards when a whitetail doe busted me. No Sunday hunting here so we just hung out-went out Monday morning saw a good buck where we didn't have permission and Ty filled one anterless tag later in the A'M. No bucks but a great hunt. superguide
Re: Awesome Weekend Lacy I don't see any two by fours in that first pic lol. There's the boys with Shane's first bowkill and his first muledeer-a pretty happy camper. That buck there is one that got in behind me and smelled me-it was his two much bigger brothers that the tractor scared. Last but not least there is a good bull moose in a canole field-we'd got a pic of a cow about 300 yards earlier-can't wait to get a moose tag for this zone. That first pic of Ty and me is after quite a few hot miles-I was using a 'turkey vest' from Cabella's it's pretty awesome but I got stuck packing everything-as you can see that country is pretty open but has some killer coulees-it's hard to get within bow range of bucks and too much cactus to take my boots off lol.
