Reloader
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Only humans can be "murdered"...WHY??? Because we are the "only" creation God gave a SOUL!!!! [/ QUOTE ] Not to get off the point but this agruement doesn't hold water........where in the statutes does it say that a soul is required for it to be considered murder? I'm not defending what they say......far from it, this aguement is just one of my pet peeves. Murder is murder when one human kills another human......souls have nothing to do with it. [/ QUOTE ] This does get off the point for this post...but I am realy curious on some more opinions so will be starting a new post in politics/religion room for it! [/ QUOTE ] So what is your definition? While I agree that only humans have a soul, that is not a proper definition for murder as it is not a demonstratable[sp] fact by the world's standards. To me Murder is the intentional waste of a HUMAN life. The keys here being waste, and intent, it is not a waste to defend yourself from attack: aka self defense, war etc. and accidents are not murder despite the tradgety involved. Hunting does not fit this definition for 2 reasons. 1 We do not waste what we hunt, we eat the animals killed and/or are hunting to manage overall poulations or in the case of pests and predators we are hunting to protect lives or livelyhood. 2 Animals are not human! TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Define murder... That's a tough one actually. I think I would define murder as an un-lawful act of taking another persons life. People kill people in time of war but war is justified as long as the killing of the enemy was lawful. Killing an animal is lawful because you have a license to kill. I guess if you un-lawfully take an animal it could be considered murder at least in PETA's eyes. I can't really answer the one about animals but people, my defination is above

Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Define murder... To be murder, it has to involve a human victim and it has to be an illegal act. Simple as that. BTW - Before my fellow pro-lifers get up in arms, I didn't say I think abortion is right. But right or wrong, it IS the law of the land.
