Mayor Nagin

This guy is killing me with the comments as of late. I understand his grief and the reason he is upset but he is the Mayor and he knew that this storm was coming why didn't he dispatch buses to route people out of the city. He is blaming everyone else for it taking so long to get help but he is not saying a word about his failure to move butts out of the city. He could have lined buses up and sent people out of there before the stom ever occurred. I think this guy is just trying to make a name for himself and all he is doing is making himself look bad.

Re: Mayor Nagin

I tend to agree here. the governor to. they are all playing the blame game. I know response was slow, but right now is not the time to be pointing fingers. I tend to beleive that the overwhelming size of the problem and lack of communication to be the main cause of the slow response

Re: Mayor Nagin

mayor nagin sucks!!!!! he has NO RIGHT blaming everybody around him for what happened!!!! what happened to those people is an embarrassment to america...it is the mayor & the governors fault!!! if im not mistaken HE told those people to go to the superdome & the convention center!!! HE should have had a plan other than "go to the superdome" HE did not make any other plans than that!! HE did not think about food or water or supplies!!!! he nor the governor told fema exactly what was needed!!!!they had to find out from fox news!!! what a joke!!! what a moron!!! & i personaly do not think the response was that far off when you look at the pure logistics of the whole thing, this country has never had anything quite this large happen to it before.......thank god they are getting the help they need now...

They (him and the gov.) must both be related to Jesse Jackson!

I was disgusted when I heard his interview on the Clinton News Network (CNN). I was shocked to hear him say some of the things he said. VERY unprofessional. Right now the media is feeding on him big because finger pointing is a bigger story than the victims. The mayor appears to be more worried about himself than his citizens.

Re: Mayor Nagin

Just wait till the facts all come out. When they do the media, Nagan, and Blanco are all going to be eating the harsh words they have said about our federal government.

Ever wonder why President Bush decalared LA and MS a federal disaster area even before the storm made landfall? There was a reason and it had something to do with what LA and NO were failing to do at the time. You know there is a Constitutional requirement that a state must request federal aid before the federal government can move in with troops. You know President Bush was talking to both Nagan and Blanco before the storm hit but they chose not to request help like we did. Basically poor leadership at all levels of the state and local governments in LA.

After we get past the search and recovery the truth will all come out. I wouldn't be surprised if the city of NO and the state of LA are held liable.

Re: Mayor Nagin

Personally I think he should be leading the people instead of panicking them. If he wants law and order down there, he'd better wise up fast. He should be spending his energy trying to comfort folks and give them hope, not rant and rave about who's fault it is. crazy.gif

Be a leader Mr Mayor

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, if you like that, you will love Atlanta's newspaper, the AJC (Al Jazeera Constitution). laugh.gif Never met a leftist dictator they didn't love. My buddy is stationed in Iraq and apparently has an embedded reporter stationed with his crew....I told him (he is kind of naiive) that if the shooting started and got hot and heavy.....SHOOT THE REPORTER FIRST! laugh.gif I meant it.

Anyway, I compared Nagan to Rudy Gulianni on 9/11 and that is where the comparison stopped.

Nagan and the Governor are not worried about taking the reigns and getting this thing fixed, they are simply concerned with screaming at the Feds so that the Feds ratchet up the response to make up for their ineptitude. Nagan told everyone to go to the Superdome and that undoubtedly saved their lives....but where was his plan for water, sanitation, and backup power? You can't put 20,000 people in a tin can with no water or ventilation.....especially not a bunch of savages as apparently were in there. People that were in there said that beatings, rapes, robberies, assaults, murders, suicides, and other things were going on in plain sight.....what happened to people in distress banding together and helping themselves and others? Nuff said.

Nagan and that Governor should be fired. They obviously had no plan--Nagan diserted before the storm got there, I heard--which is evidenced by the fact that those 200 buses in that one parking lot were sitting there unused and flooded. Of course, there is no guarantee that many of the people would have left.

I saw a picture of some jacka$$ sitting on his couch yesterday with water lapping up to his knees in the room who refused to leave.

Out with Nagan and that Governor---but the people that elected these idiots are really too dumb to figure it out and replace them. Some prophecy is self-fulfilling because this will happen again unless the people wake up and realize who they elected.

My rant is over....

Re: Mayor Nagin

Oh and one more thing about general appearance......

You are the Mayor of an Internationally known city that has just been destroyed....go down to the Wal Mart and LOOT some class pal.

I turn the channel each and every time that this fool comes on the TV with bleep this and bleep that. He possesses that very confrontational and arrogant 'talk to the hand' attitude that makes certain people seem extraordinarily stupid and not worthy of running a city.

JMHO,

I am glad that they were given opportunity to evacuate..........but it is not my fault, nor the President, nor anyone else but themselves that they didn't. Therefore, it is offensive to me when the mayor of that city stands up and shows his tale by blaming everyone else other than those who didn't leave. I understand that some couldn't leave......but you just said yourself that they had the chance! So, yes, it is offensive to me when a mayor stands up and acts like a complete idiot. Sorry to vent, but that is just my opinion.

Re: Mayor Nagin

Not taking his side by any means, I too think he has gone off the deep end (no pun intended), but something to think about. This is not the first year for hurricanes hitting the US, don't you think that some of his predecessors in office, city officials, etc. should have had a long standing plan for the inevitable.

I am not up to date on N.O. politics, maybe there was and he cut it from the budget, but it just seems prudent to me that any city that is below sea level would be prepared for an event like this.

Hey Galveston, are you ready??????

Re: Mayor Nagin

i agree w/ u preacherman. I totally believe that its their fault that they didn't leave and now they have to pay for their actions. I"m not sitting here blaming anyone for the actions. Personally i dont think ANYONE expected this to happen. Yes it was always a fear, but the city had dodged disaster so many other times i guess they figured luck was on their side again. Not anywhere in my post did i point the finger at who is to blame. If u read every other post on here everyone is arguing about who is pointing the fingerat at who. All of you who are blaming the mayor and gov(not saying who is right or wrong bc its not my decision to say) you yourself are pointing the finger. Just seems kind of hypercrtical to me..JMO
