Re: where to shoot at a deer in the tree stand?

This morning I shot a deer in my tree stand.....How he got in my tree stand I'll never know. wink.gifgrin.gif

Depends on the speed of the bow and the distance. The only way to know for sure is to practice shooting from a tree stand. I hit the same aim point when I'm in a tree stand as when I'm not. When I aim I visualize the where the arrow will exit and aim accordingly.

I always aim a little low for the heart area myself. Not because of high arrow hits from an elevated position but because deer aren't targets and almost always will drop down as soon as they hear an arrow turned loose to load up the muscles in the hind legs to leave. It's just a playing the odds sort of thing. wink.gif

just bend at the waist to keep your form true and aim right on. Your point of impact maybe a little higher but not enough where you need to compensate--at least not enough for me but I only hunt 15 feet up.

Nailed it on the head, Dogdoc. Bend at the waist to keep your form right, and aim dead on.

my pins are set for various yardage from a treestand...on the ground they are set like weird ranges such as 18.5yds and 34 yds. From a tree stand they hit at set even ranges. However, if your sights are set for level ground, remember a downward or upward shot will shoot closer than a horizontal shot bc of the rules of gravity...remeber physics?
