The_Kat
Shooting Mathews 70lbs, with Beaman ICS 400's Muzzy 3-blade 100 gr.s Getting a wobble in flight? Any Idea?
Chrud
Re: Muzzy Wobble Did you spin the arrows? If so, did they wobble then? Could be an insert issue or the bow might be out of tune a bit.
HeviShot
Re: Muzzy Wobble They shot bad for me also.I know they are a great broadhead but they never hit the same place twice for me.Did your problem happen all at once?I mean have you shot muzzy's well in the past? ODH
Re: Muzzy Wobble have a little problem to with Muzzy's flying weird sometimes. It may just be the bow, but I'm not sure.
Guest tyshe17
Re: Muzzy Wobble I was missing my spot by six inches with muzzys until I started using small o-rings to line the blade up with my vanes. Also, my muzzys shoot lower than field pts bc of the foc.
tedicast
Re: Muzzy Wobble If you are shooting the same weight broadhead, as you are field point, I do't believe it should have any effect on your foc.
Guest kunegos
Re: Muzzy Wobble 1. Are the broadheads tuned to the arrow? 2. You might try a G5 ASD. Apparently it files down inserts to make the surface level so the broadhead sits against it evenly. 3. Once my arrows were tuned, my Muzzy's hit with my field tips, regardless of how they were alligned in relation to the feathers.
TreeWalker
Re: Muzzy Wobble How does your bow shot through paper ?? My guess is either you have some rest allignment issues........or you are getting flethcing contact. I have shot Muzzy's exclusively for 6+ years, and I can quickly say that there is no reason why they will not shoot right with field points.......there are other issues at hand.......if the inserts aren't alligned correctly, if you have fletching contact......poor nock travel (bow-tune)......torquing your grip....etc.....all will affect arrow flight........ I had a similar problem this year...it was hardly detectable if at all at 20 yards, but when I moved out to 40 and 50, I could really see the fish tailing......turns out my Switchback needed some more tuning of the cable forks, and then some rest adjustments......once I got my bullet hole through paper, I went back and then shot for groups....... First indexing my broadheads and inserts so that my 4-blade muzzy's form an "x" when at full draw.......and then spin testing my arrows to make sure my broadheads were spinning true...no wobbles........then continued to index my nocks to get rid of any fletching contact......... Normally when I am all said and done, my Muzzy tipped Beman or CX arrows will fly right with those tipped with field points..........perfect out to 50 ALSO.......out of one dozen new arrows, you are going to find some bad apples........they fly off where there is no human explanation......for me, they go into the practice pile........this year out of one dozen new Beman Hunter 400's, I had 3 arrows that went to the practice squad.........out of the remaining 9, 4 found there way to the quiver as shooting just dead on perfect......4 others are now backups, that I will work with a little more to get dialed in...............................sometimes refletching of these odd-balls helps correct the problem, but often just indexing your nock a little or your broadhead........or simply swapping heads around from one to the other, because the thread patterns don't start in the same place, will clean up a couple flight patterns...............you just gotta try a little bit of everything...... AND WHILE YOU ARE DOING ALL OF THESE CHANGES......KEEP GOOD NOTES.........
The_Kat
Re: Muzzy Wobble clay you hit it on the head. It's un noticeable at 20, but 30 and 40 it's flipping a little.

Chrud
Re: Muzzy Wobble What is the "wobble" like? Does the arrow make circles or is it just a left-to-right fishtail? If it is a left-to-right fishtail, torque could definately be an issue.
TreeWalker
Re: Muzzy Wobble Sounds like you have some idler pully lean to me. I don't know if you have access to a bow press or not......but here's what I did. I shot through paper from 6 feet back.........I had a high left tear I could not get rid of, previously.......and of course it was still there. I had read on the Mathews website about adjusting the cable yoke on the side of the tear, by shortening it 1/8 inch (was 2 full twists for me).........see, if you can not get rid of the left tear by adjusting the rest, than idler lean must be flipping the string to the left during release....... So now my idler was adjusted, and I shot through paper again........wouldn't you know, my left tear was gone......and all it took was two small rest and nock height adjustments and I was burning bulletholes......... Now take this for what it's worth...this info was off a Mathews Website and specifically for guys having trouble with their Switchbacks.........but I hope it may just help you....
