HeviShot
I was thinking about the rubber bands or o rings on mechanical broadheads in freezing weather.I would think that it would hinder it's performance.Anyone had a bad experience with any in cold weather? Mach1
Re: Cold weather and rubber bands My mechanicals don't use o-rings.
popgun
Re: Cold weather and rubber bands I have killed several deer with mechanicals that use the o-rings, and temperatures have no bearing on the way they work. Every one I have shot; the o-ring breaks off, rolls back, or slides back on the arrow shaft. There is no stretching involved. Whenever that mechanical hits any resistance the o-ring will slide back and the head will open up. I love mechanicals. They are accurate and I have never had one fail. Even if one or more of the blades break off on its way through that deer, the deer will still be just as dead, because by the time it breaks it has done it's job. I never use the same mechanical once it has hit it's mark anyway. (One note) Do not shoot mechanicals through the window netting on any blind. If you decide you will be shooting through the window netting, practice with, and use a fixed blade. ....popgun
hutchies
Re: Cold weather and rubber bands Good point Popgun. Alot of people see the archers on TV shoot thru the netting and do not realize that it will not work with mechanicals.
