billygoat
Never had this problem with my old Hoyt, but I nocked about 20 broadheads through my VTEC today, and I had to move my sight! Low (4") and right (4"). Granted it was an easy fix, and I'm hitting 2" again w/ my broadheads... just wondering if anyone else had that problem w/ Thead's? Just frustrated! Good to get her dialed in quick! It amazes me how fast confidence can plummet when things start going haywire!

NYBUCK
Re: Thunderheads: Low and right? When I used to shoot thunderheads I had the exact same problem. When I bought the Outback I switched to ACC's and muzzy 3 blade 100's. They shot perfect. You may just want to try some other fixed blades. I know what your going to say, " I love my thunderheads" I always said the same thing until I tried others.
Chrud
Re: Thunderheads: Low and right? I would assume that now your fieldpoints are 4" high and 4" to the left, right? I'd say your bow isn't tuned right for the broadheads. A rest adjustment and maybe a nocking point adjustment would probably bring the broadheads and fielpoints together. TreeWalker
Re: Thunderheads: Low and right? And let's not forget, that arrow tuning is equally important as the bow that shoots them......insert allingment, nock indexing, spin testing..etc... But assuming that all of your arrows are grouping the same with broadheads, just in a different location, it would indicate to me that your bow needs to be tuned..........or you may have some fletching contact..... What's your complete set-up.......
billygoat
Re: Thunderheads: Low and right? There's no fletching contact... spin is fine, and insert alignment is good... which leaves a tuning issue... so help me out guys. What now? Paper tuning? and if that is off, how do I fix the issue? Nock points seem to be right where they need to be, so... now what? Set up is as follows: VTEC: NAP drop away 4000 rest: Release with nock loop (string) Gold Tip arrows w/ feathers... nocked w/ slight off set (as I look from nock to tip, fletching is left to right... causes counter clockwise spin??? is that right off set or left?). Cmon guys, let's get this fixed quick! I've put over 1000 arrows through this bow, and thought it was shooting great... now you've got me scared (10days till opening morning)! too_pointer
Re: Thunderheads: Low and right? When you were shooting low and to the right, were they grouping there fine ? One more thing, are your arrows going into the target straight or at an angle ? too_

Chrud
Re: Thunderheads: Low and right? [ QUOTE ] The bow used was in perfect tune. [/ QUOTE ] The bow being in tune has a lot to do with it. But, so does the broadhead, arrow, insert, etc. There is a lot more to tuning broadheads than having a tuned bow. Guest bowhunter56
Re: Thunderheads: Low and right? I have taken plenty of deer with the thunderhead, but i used two sights, one for field points, then when i shot thunderheads, i put on another sight, i recently switched to montec, 100 gr, they fly and hit right on. billygoat
Re: Thunderheads: Low and right? Thanks guys, spent about 2 hours this afternoon, paper tuning, and switching between fields and broadheads. I now have them both shooting 2 " groups, once I paper tuned the FP's, it was just a matter of resighting the bow... no problems... and I'm ready to go! Thanks again... that web site was great steve!
