Guest lilcrackshot
What does everybody think of the new Ruger Alaskan?
hangunnr
Re: Alaskan I'd have to think with a barrel as short as the Alaskan revolvers sport, that the muzzle flash would be horrendous. I suppose they have their place. I sure wouldn't want to put too many rounds down range through one. hangunnr
Guest SavageTaylor
Re: Alaskan Wow, I had to go to the Ruger website to find out what an Alaskan was... basically a Super Redhawk with a Stubby Barrel! For my pick I will stick with my Ruger Redhawk, it has a 7 1/2" barrel, I wouldn't mind if that could be reduced to say 6" but I wouldn't enjoy shooting a Snubby at the indoor or outdoor range. In my opinion range accuracy would be so poor that range practice would be an exercise in frustration compared to my long barrel Redhawk. --Ken
AJ
Re: Alaskan I can only imagine that thing full of 454 Casull ammo!!! That will get your attention.
hangunnr
Re: Alaskan The fireball would be spectacular in low light conditions. This gun just might be the ticket if'n you were in big bear country and ya had something against taking a front to back trip through the critter. hangunnr
AJ
Re: Alaskan That's pretty much what I would want if I was to gong to be packing out deer/elk/moose/etc in grizz country. You may not even have to hit it, just the muzzleblast would fend Yogi off.
WNY_Whitetailer
Re: Alaskan This gun is definitely not a plinker...Ruger doesn't even try to hide that fact. You can shoot 45lc rounds out of it but why would you when those 454 Casull rounds just beg to be fired...This is an extreme self defense gun to say the least. It would probably work well for concealed carry in the roughest of neighborhoods...
