Superguide's Ranch

Re: Superguide\'s Ranch

I'd have to go with the lower edge of the pines, just below that small opening. Kind of looks like a small ridge.

Depending upon the size and type of the "brush", I also like that "right of way" at the top of the screen behind the airplane's wing supports.

Re: Superguide\'s Ranch

Sureshot we were about 1/4 mile straight east of that north fenceline when we called the 'yotes. That buck I shot last fall was shot just up from the back wing support where that little finger draw ends. If I would shoot deer on my neighbors I'd of shot several in those stubble fields to the west. Deer really funnel through that little chunk of grass in the NE corner-north of the creek. That piece of ground is totally flat by the way. Nobodies found my hotspot yet but maybe your suggestions will work better-I should of thought of this sooner. Keep[ them coming.

Re: Superguide\'s Ranch

Michihunter you are a dangerous man-the closest so far. We don't stand hunt in there too much-I hunt more like a coyote kind of trot along poking my nose into openings and cutlines. If i get hot i'll sit till I cool off-if I get cold I'll stillhunt till I warm up. We 'scent push' that little brush stand if wind is right. One guy will stillhunt through the westedge if it's upwind while the other guy sits where the little cutline north of dugout meets the east/west cutline. I've shot 5 bucks from there. My buddy set up at the dugout and missed a 173 in that same spot-twice standing. I know what he scored because a @#$%^&& roadhunter got him with a 500 yard hail mary on the deadrun three days later. That small brush is a staging area later in the rut-I've spent 100's of hours in that little patch of bush. It's gonna be tough hunting this year as that big meadow is flooded and the reed canary grass is 6-8 feet high out there.

Re: Superguide\'s Ranch

jjl7913 there's about 300 in that big meadow on the west side-that's not my whole place lol. If our government didn't have so many rules I'd gladly take somebody for a hunt up here-unfortunately in my zone it's against the law. My roadhunting neighbors patrol those stubble fields to the west of me morning, noon and night all season long-last year they managed to anniliate one unfoirtunate fawn. Kinda sick huh. That little patch of bush is pretty near and dear to us-my Mom,Dad and brother all have their ashes spread out there.

Re: Superguide\'s Ranch

It's going to come to ahead between the outfitters and land owners pretty soon-it is illegal for the landowner to charge for access but if you are a registered outfitter you can hunt on my land. Farmers are having a tough go up here-pretty hard to watch somebody else making good money hunting on your land. I think the government should give each landowner a certain number of tags he can sell-in return he'd have to allow a certain amount of access for residant hunters-as it is now more and more land is getting closed to everybody. In my zone the only thing that Americans can hunt are upland game and waterfowl. If anyone wants to come up and just take pictures and fish we can do that though.

This I agree with but I think the cons outweigh the pros if we start allowing non residents to hunt anywhere. The 40 oz. bottle of whiskey and the ham that I give the guys that allow me on to their property would not hold water to the rich guy staniding there with the wallet full of cash. I know alot of you guys have felt the pain of private land being leased up, I personally don't ever want to see that happen.

Michihunter, fishing is GOOD!!! grin.gif

Re: Superguide\'s Ranch

Did you slay some big ones Gunner. That's why I'm saying that landowner's only be allowed to sell tags if they provide local access too. You know me I'd just like to be able to take my buddies from across the line hunting once in awhile. Say a good buck about 5 miles west of me last night-hey you need some hamburger were going to butcher that monster steer lol.
