Mach1
I'm thinking about putting out some mock scrape(s) this year. When's a good time to do it and has anybody had any luck hunting over them?
Sam16
Re: Mock scrapes Believe it or not, deer make scrapes all year long, but the majority of scrape making/pawing is from oct 15 till maybe the beginning of may, at least in Illinois. Remember, it wouldnt hurt to start them now, just make sure u put the right scents in there now. Normal buck and doe pee.
Guest MarylandQDMA
Re: Mock scrapes try your own pee and save your self some money. I do it this way and allways have had good results. one thing with mock scrapes, make sure you provide a licking branch above it (5 feet will work well). if there is none (licking branch) the deer will not use it. you can make a licking branch as well. anything hanging ablve the scrape that will hold sent will work as an alt. bigbuckdown70
Re: Mock scrapes what i have done i the past is make them scrap it like md said must have a licking branch above it but about the 1st week of Oct. i will just put down some doe in estress where i want them to make the scrap and visit it and i let them do the pawing but you have to keep on it till the start scraping there and the will have had better luck along food plots then in the woods
