Re: ABC to offer Prime Time shows in Spanish

Are you serious? What do you care?

It isn't like they you are going to turn on your TV and hear nothing but spanish. It will be brought to Spanish viewers via a setting they turn on through the menu functions on their TV.

I accidentally turned on the SAP and suddenly my TV was speaking spanish to me. I turned it off and voila, English again.

You must have GREAT lives that you gotta worry about trivial stuff like this.

Re: ABC to offer Prime Time shows in Spanish

I'm with you in that my area is being over run by illegal aliens and it comes with quite a bit of property devaluation and other social problems.

My point was that I think you were misreading the article. It isn't that ABC is going to broadcast solely in Spanish so that you learn Spanish or don't watch it. They are simply going to expand their lineup of shows that are broadcast in Spanish if you set your TV to SAP or closed captioning in Spanish.

BTW, this has been going on for years but just not in prime time.

I believe that everyone living here should learn English just as I would learn French if living in France. That isn't reality unfortunately and there will come a time that non-English speaking residents of America outnumber those who do. The almighty dollar follows the buyers unfortunately.

Re: ABC to offer Prime Time shows in Spanish

I live in Florida where there's a significant Spanish influence already. Many places they only speak Spanish, the school systems here are struggling to teach students because they only speak Spanish or very poor English. Their parents speak little english so there's no incentive to learn English causing a burden on the schools and taxpayers. They're having to separate classes to teach in Spanish. The point is, they're making it easier and easier not to learn English in America. I wish I spoke spanish, but I do know French being from La., the local stations there had a lot in French. Here in Fl, there are several spanish tv stations and radio stations since there's such a large population. There are 4 states now with a Hispanic majority and that is the fastest growing population group in the U.S. How long will english remain as the main spoken language in the US when the schools start teaching in Spanish? I don't know, but times are changing

I wish I knew another language fluently. I know a mish mosh of about 5 different languages.

Nothing wrong with education and learning IMHO. All the foreign exchange students we get here know English, yet not too many Americans know a 2nd language.

There's something wrong with that picture if you'll pardon the pun.

I don't care what people speak as long as when I am trying to do business they speak english. I am not going to learn another language in the country that I am a citizen of and the country that I defend just because some people think I should so I can talk to the people that can't speak english.

Hey, if you can speak english, thank a School Teacher. If you can still read this in english, thank a Marine grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif...sorry, Soldiers too...and Airmen...Sailors...Coast Guardsmen grin.gif

Re: ABC to offer Prime Time shows in Spanish

Bigbuckdown, it isin't so much that. That part I don't care about. They can do whatever to the TV channels, it will not effect my TV. They can talk however they want to in their house, that will not effect me neither. In general, people can talk whatever language they want to here just as long as they know how to speak english when they are doing business. I hate going to a store and ask for help and they say "Noa speaka a english". And I certainly don't think anybody should have the nerve to say I should or we should know a second language to accomidate them people that can't. That's their problem, not mine. They need to adapt to english America not the other way around.
