CDubWSR
hey guys i really dont know alot about fletching arrows but i want to start doing my own so that i dont have to wait a week to get them done at the pro shop. i am kinda on a budget so i need to know exactly what im going to need to fletch blazer vanes on my axis arrows. i know i need a jig, but what kind of clamp do i want, a helical or just straight and offset them. i am planning on shooting fixed blade so how much helical or offset should i use. and what are the other supplies i will need. thanx for your guys help. need2hunt
Re: Want to start fletching my own arrows Basic list would be... - Fletching Jig (I use a Bitzenburger jig) - If your shooting a right handed bow you'll probably want a right helical clamp. - Bare Shafts (unless your just refletching your own) - Fletching Glue - Blazer Fletchings or whatever type of fletching your going to put on - Rubbing Alcohol for cleaning the surface of the shaft I think that's about it, chime in if I've missed anything. Nosdog2
Re: Want to start fletching my own arrows Just me, but I don't use alcohol to clean my arrows prior to fletching. I give them a good washing with some soap and water and let them air dry. The glue just seemed to like it better. IMO.
ParrotHead2005
Re: Want to start fletching my own arrows I bought a Vader for 24.95. It is the same thing the guy uses that I bought my bow from. He uses those instead of the BLitz. that he has. I have re-fletched 6 arrows with no problems. I had never tried before those 6. ksdeerhunter03
Re: Want to start fletching my own arrows Just call my cell, or PM me, I live in Edmond and you can use my jig if you want too. I just finished 3 dozen A/C/C's so I am good for a while. Brad
hutchies
Re: Want to start fletching my own arrows It is addicting and gratifing knowing that is just one more thing you don't have to go to a pro shop for.
CDubWSR
Re: Want to start fletching my own arrows does anybody know if i should fletch the blazers with an offset or a helical, and how much on each one? it looks like im going to get an arizona ez-fletch. so do i need to get the offset or right helical version? i am gonna be shooting fixed blade 100 grain muzzy 4 blades and i want to make sure they are stabalized well. right now my axis arrows have a straight fletch on them and im just not sure if that is gonna cut it or not. i guess i should just test them to see. LifeNRA
Re: Want to start fletching my own arrows I sent an email to where my arrows are made. They told me what they do. Since these arrows fly great I will be doing the same angle as they do once I get my jigs.
