Griz
Has anybody been having any tuning problems with it... For the life of me I seem to be having problems getting my bow sighted in. I'm thinking the string and cables has stretched some making everything go crazy on me. Whats happening is I get it zeroed in at 40 yards and with in 6 to 8 shots the arrow will either shoot high, low or either hit left or right. Putting it a foot off the center of the X. I'm shooting a Trophy Taker rest and I thought maybe that has the problem. But it seems to be working just fine. There's nothing loose on the bow. So that ain't it... I have never in my life had this much trouble in getting a bow sighted in... I'm at a lost and am about to lose hope here... Any suggestions on what to do or what could be causing this... buckee
Re: Mathews Switchback.... It sounds like maybe your peep is creeping up and down and/or your rest or sights are moving. or your just shooting too much , getting muscle fatigue ....readjusting for it and going no-where
Guest Bob_D
Re: Mathews Switchback.... I said stupid question because I believed that you probably already did it. My vote would be muscle fatigue as Buckee said. I have the same problem sometimes when I shoot too much and start aiming.
MCH
Re: Mathews Switchback.... Dale, have you ruled out "bad arrows"?? Find three arrows that group well and 40 and shoot those exclusively. See if that "flyer" still shows up??
Griz
Re: Mathews Switchback.... [ QUOTE ] Dale, have you ruled out "bad arrows"?? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah I've ruled that out. I spun all the arrows and there straight except for one and it had alittle bit of a wobble to it. So I don't shoot that one, unless I just want to fling an arrow for fun... tedicast
Re: Mathews Switchback.... The SB's are notorious for string stretching with the Baracuda strings. My bro went through 3 strings in 4 months before he got rid of the bow. He couldn't keep the axle to axle lenght in specs with the string stretching. He got a Tiger string and cables on his new Outback, and has had no problems.

tedicast
Re: Mathews Switchback.... The problem with a lot of SB's is they are nearly impossible to keep in spec because of the stretching of the stock string.

Stretched after the first few shots, put it back in spec and it hasn't moved. I like it a lot more than the WC I had on my Vapor 300. The center serving came unraveled on the WC all by itself in storage.
Griz
Re: Mathews Switchback.... [ QUOTE ] What weight do you shoot? [/ QUOTE ] Chrud I have my bow set at 60lbs. now. It was at 70... Just got done paper testing my bow. I had a low nock. So I started checking everything out going back to a basic tuning and found out that my peep creeped up on me. I pulled the peep back down, ran another paper test and I'm happy to say that it's back to shooting bullet holes once again...

I haven't had any trouble with mine. I've shot alot of arrows through it and never had any strays except for my own fault.
Guest lobsterman
Re: Mathews Switchback.... i have the outback, and today when i was hunting, the freakin handle fell off! what the heck, i spend $750 on a bow to have a little wooded grip fall off in my treestand, although i used double sided sticky tape to re stick it on, its not the point.... mainebuck
Re: Mathews Switchback.... I'm wondering if mine is out of spec. I'll shoot a few good arrows then will have them hitting like a foot left or something. Can't seem to keep them real tight to say the least. I was thinking it was fatigue or hand torque. What do you guys check to make sure your bow is meeting the specs and how do you fix it if it's not? I'm curious.
tedicast
Re: Mathews Switchback.... When the string stretches it causes a number of things to happen. The easiest thing to check is axle to axle length. If the string has stretch it will be longer than it is supposed to be, this will make your brace light less that it is supposed to be. cam rotation is ussually off when you have stretch too. The way to get it back in spec, is to get the bow in a bess, and add a few twists to the string, and or the cables whichever is needed for your particular problem. You should go over to the Mathews forums. There is so much tech info there, it will make your head spin. But, any question you can ask about the switchback, has already been answered there. If not there are a few guys there that are incredibly knowledgeable, and always willing to help. Mathews Inc. Forum
Chrud
Re: Mathews Switchback.... Excessive wear on the String Supressors is a good sign that the string has stretched.
Gator
Re: Mathews Switchback.... My sdealer said the same thing about tthe top suppresor wearing more than my bottom, that it was normal. My bottom has NO wear, my top is about wore out. Guess I will take it somewhere else myself. Griz
Re: Mathews Switchback.... Yeah fill lucky Kyle... I'm still having problems with mine. Come next week the dealer is going to see me in person. I'm about tired of this crap... I have been trying for tha last 2 weeks to get this bow sighted in. I have done everything I could and I fill like and plus some... The way I look at it, I paid good hard money that's suppose to be a top of the line bow and it turns out to be a nightmare... I don't think so... I have had more luck tuning my HCA or PSE and not having to put up with all this bull... I being to wonder if Mathews are even worth it or not... Ticked! Yeah I'm ticked and something will be done about this... Looks like I may have to pull out my old HCA bow to hunt with... I know I can depend on it 100% in tune or out of tune...
