Turkeygirl
Does anyone else deep fry squirrel meat? I've only done it a few times but when I found out about deep frying it, I found out the it is good! We make up a batter and put the meat in it then drop the battered meat into some hot oil. I think I'm hungry
Smitteken
Re: Deep fried squirrel At deer camp we usually take every ones tree rats from the season, deep fry them and put em in a roaster with some water and salt and pepper them. They should make there own gravy, but a little flour or cornstarch will help. Then after they cook in there for a few hours they are tender as could be. longislandhunter
Re: Deep fried squirrel Never deep fried tree rats but I'll give it a try this year. I usually make squirrel stew but I'll give the deep frying a try if it's as good as you say.

Bake in 350 degree oven for a couple of hours or until tender.
Guest Andrea
Re: Deep fried squirrel I think it smells wonderful while it's cooking. But somehow, I just can't bring myself to eat the little guys. I really wish I could. Someone would have to lie to me about what I was fixing to eat I guess. Flavor is somewhat like pork with a little nutty flavor.
