Guest generallee
I was hunting opening day of bow season in GA on my 55 acre piece of property. Saw a lot of deer including the big buck i'd been scouting. I watched him from my stand for over an hour but he never came close enough for a shot.......I was wondering, if its too early to try a grunt to lure him in???.....or will it spook him??.....I didnt want to try anything i wasnt sure about to educate him so I stayed silent....any opinions? billygoat
Re: bowhunting opinions?? a soft grunt (not aggressive) typically will not hurt, however it is early enough in the season, that you probably did the right thing by just watching! The other thing that can sometimes be done early is a soft fawn bleat... to let him know other deer are in the area... best of luck!
hutchies
Re: bowhunting opinions?? Personally I would just sit back and watch. It is still early in the year to be grunting. If he was that close I would hold off just because of the fact that he might spook or spot you.

Guest generallee
Re: bowhunting opinions?? Thats kind of what i was thinking....he was aware of his surrounding and very cautious the whole time he was out.....checked the wind about every minute or so....didnt get that big by being stupid i suppose
Tominator
Re: bowhunting opinions?? I don't think I would have grunted either, maybe just a soft one, or maybe one turn of a can call.
ksdeerhunter03
Re: bowhunting opinions?? Deer grunt to communicate, a normal short ggrunt or two wont hurt anything. I wouldnt do a tending grunt or a snort wheeze, but a grunt shouldnt hurt anything at all.
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: bowhunting opinions?? I would have jsut watched they can pin you with a grunt I wouldnt want him to be looking for me when I drew back on him.
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: bowhunting opinions?? I would have waited, no sense in spooking him this early in the season. Give it some time and maybe relocate your stand to where you seen him.
Mirage
Re: bowhunting opinions?? I would wait and not educate the deer to your presence because he may start trying to wind the other buck and pick up sopmething fronm you he may not like. I would instead of grunting wait and see meathod maybe a new tree next hunt closer to that trail. Good luck
