some of you may remember i posted about a friend who bought me a bow(i have to pay him back)....well this friend just went off the deep end!!!!!!! my wife is unhappy with him,,she thinks he bought my friendship!!! (it's a long story) but any way i told my friend that my wife is trying to get past her feelings....everything seemed fine until saturday night.......he sends me an e-mail telling me to never call him again and he doesn't want me to pay him back he just never wants to talk to me again!!!! he is willing to throw away 7 years of friendship over an opinion of my wife(she was not trying to stop us from being friends or anything)......i sent him a reply e-mail telling him ..i thought he was stupid to throw away a friendship for this...but if that is what he wanted then i only want a mailing address so i can send him what i owe him for the bow.......he so far hasn't replied to my e-mail!!!!!!! if i don't hear from him in the next week i will call and probably talk to his mother, i'll tell her why i want the mailing address and take it from there!!! i'll never understand how someone can spend 7 years building a friendship ,,only to throw it away over something stupid!!!!!!!!! mad.gif well for those of you who know me...life goes on my wife and kids are far more important...i would like to salvage our friendship but if i can't oh well .....(he is the first real friend {besides my wife} that i've ever had) sucks to say good bye but that's life...like they said in the army-----"suck it up and drive on".............sorry guys just needed to vent about the dumbest thing going on in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!! grin.gif

Re: i\'ll never understand!!!

Sounds like you've grown up and he hasn't. I can see him getting upset, but not acting so childish.

I'd e-mail him again before calling his mom. Give him a chance to cool down and maybe he'll be able to cope with it.

If not, pay off the debt and let him keep the ball in his court.

Re: i\'ll never understand!!!

hmmmm, sounds like a high maintenance friend.

personally, i'll never burn a bridge with a friend. i have a few that are tough to keep in contact with, but that's on their end, not mine.

once a friend, always a friend in my book. it's his choice to burn a bridge i guess, you can only chase a friend so far IMHO.
