MCH
Re: 2004 Muzzleloader New Pics I'm confused... Aren't albino deer protected in most states?? Michigan included?? Or maybe the buck was harvested in a legal state???
jci63
Re: 2004 Muzzleloader New Pics Yes, for some reason, ALBINO deer are protected in many states. But this deer is a piebald due to the brown spots and most important the brown eyes. This deer was checked over by the local DNR and the brown on the fur and the eyes have been all verified. Why albino deer or all white deer are protected is crazy. They are bad for the heard, even told this by the DNR biologist. The law was passed in Michigan due to a Senator, who was feeding one and some killed it legally during hunting season. Then in 1990 it was illegal to shoot a Albino or all white deer. Crazy law! Tsmola
Re: 2004 Muzzleloader New Pics nice, if that piebald is legal in MI than there's no doubt the one on our hunting land is perfectly legal then, he has a lot of white, but not that much. I kind of had some worries about that if I got a chance at him in November and shot him only to find out he had too much white.

(2) It shall be unlawful for a person to take or possess, at any time, an albino deer, being a deer with all white or colorless hair, or a deer with a coat of all white or colorless hair similar to an albino deer. Piebald, or partially white deer, may be taken under the provisions of this order

too_pointer
Re: 2004 Muzzleloader New Pics True albinos are illegal in Mi. Piebalds are not. I have seen one piebald hunting that was around 50% white, pretty cool. Unless you plan on a full body mount, I can't see why you would shoot one too_

Squirrelhunter91
Re: 2004 Muzzleloader New Pics Nice looking deer! Here in NY I know of no law that says we cannot shoot piebald or albino deer. They are bad for the herd as stated above and should be taken out without exemption.
