Re: Squirrel call

I did use a squirrel call last year. Mainly for the chatter call and sometimes the bark. Never had any luck with the distress call. I am not using it this year though because the bellows on the shaker ripped and I didn't get a new one. These calls are mainly used as locator calls from a distance rather than actually trying to entice a squirrel to come to you. The sucess I have had with these calls have been off and on.

Re: Squirrel call

I have NEVER used a distress call with luck. It sends them packing fast. I use a regular bark call. Dont buy the ones that require you to blow, buy one that you can pump. It has a more consistant sound.

The way I use mine:

I still hunt, a lot. I will set up and at day light plug one or two. They run into their holes. Usually they will stay for roughly 5-10 minutes. If you have a call stay put and wait just a few minutes and then give the call a couple of pumps. Stay put. They will get curious and then theyre all over again. This usually works up to 2-3 times before you have to move on....

I love a squirrel call. Ive had a lot of luck with them.
