HarvDog
Re: Latest Homebrew cam Alright! I need to make one of these. Can I use my Sony P51? Where can I pick up the sensor and case? How much should I expect to spend?
WHISKEYSWAMP
Re: Latest Homebrew cam The p51 camera can be used but from what I understand it is difficult to hack and is not recommended. I would stick with a sony p41 or p32 camera. The Bg1 is discontinued but will be replaced by the Bg2 in the near future. There are other sensors out there that will work such as the Snapshot Sniper and Pixcontroller. All parts can be bought from Hagshouse or www.nature-qwest.com websites. You'll expect to spend $200-$300 for all parts but may have additional costs such as rechargeable batteries, memory sticks, etc. Do some research on www.Hagshouse.com and www.rd-hc.com and find out what would work best for you. good luck!! WHISKEYSWAMP
Re: Latest Homebrew cam Penn Woods and Camtraker use the Sony cameras and sell them for $600-$800. for half the price you can have the same thing or even better. You can buy several cameras for under $300 but they will not be of the quality you can build yourself.
