Smitteken
Well I got the craving for apple pie yesterday while I was shopping for dinner. So I bought 3 pounds of granny smiths some pie crust mix and some meat for dinner. So while the grill was heating up I starting throwing the apple pie together. My dad taght me to cook without recipes so everthing I make is in increments of "about". I used about 2 lbs of apples (I probably could have used the whole 3 lbs), about a cup of white sugar, about a teaspoon of cinnamon, and about 3 tablespoons of butter for the filling. I dumped it all in put the top crust on cut some pretty little slits in it and sugared and cinnamoned the crust and let er bake at 425 for about 55 minutes. It turned out pretty dang good too. Not too sweet and a little tart because of the granny smiths. If I make another one I'll use more apples and increase the "abouts" a little to compensate. Cook it about 10 minutes less, and maybe cut the apples in bigger chunks. I like them to be slightly firm. Does anyone have a secret recipe for the good ole american staple dessert? Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Apple Pie That's how I usually do it too. I'll mix a little brown sugar and cinnamon into the filling.
