First elk had just closed and nothing but rifle deer was open and this bull was on privet property that my friend owns. so we head out and start looking we were wearing no orange and on this hill side I here wwwiwiwwssssss right in frount of my face then a bang from the other ridge then I here and feel wiiisssseieiii bang again I scream and start waveing my arms up in the air and my buddy is laying down on the ground and say get down and I here wwieieiessss bang agian. I get behind a tree and a bullet hits the tree two more shots are fired and my buddy spots the shooter on the far ridge and fires a round in the general direction from his 44 mag then this guy shoots back 4 more times and then takes off. we headed out and got ahold of the state police and head to where the shooter was and found three dead cows quartered and ready to pack out they left them out there and were going to stake it out to see if they come back. darn poacher's darn near killed me. all over a elk. It really pisses me off. It sucks that even on private property, there still a chan e to get shot!!! I hope they find those idiots and aresst them and throw away the key!!!! Attempted murder thrown in there as well. That is one hairy ordeal and I hope and pray you guys never ever have an encounter like that again. They caught the guys there were two they came back in that night and the staters got them and charged them with attempted murder and poaching. 19 year old and a 22 year old. I sure hope the juge decides to hang them by their (you know what). then lock them up and loose the key. beeing a pestmistic (sp) they will get a slap on the wrist and walk free. Glad they got caught and I hope they get nailed with the maximum sentenced. Just for elk, the get convicted and put in a cell with "Tiny" where they will get taken good care of. Go Tiny!
