Re: Ok Lets Admitt It!

The one that stings the most happened about 5 yrs ago when a (120) 8 pt and young 5 pt came in on me I nock the string and get half way back and bam!! my release hits me in the mouth(arrow flies through the trees never to be seen again) crazy.gif the buck jumps to the right and trots about 10 steps and stops, I"m trying to figure whats going on....I thought my string loop broke, or I did'nt have the release completely on my loop..I get another arrow and place it... check to make sure my loop is nocked properly and slowly start to pull back and the dang string loop slips through my release (scott), turns out that the loop is worn and its slipping through my release mad.gif....I killed a doe the morning before crazy.gif(what luck)I nock the release under the loop and try to shoot at 35 yds and shoot right under him and just like Bill J says did you see that buck and now he's gone crazy.gif......go home and make me a loop out of an old boot string and kill a spike that afternoon ( go figure) that one comes to mind quite often.........all my fault CHECK YOUR EQUIPMENT.. and yep I have missed with all good equipment grin.gif

Re: Ok Lets Admitt It!

I havent actually missed a deer yet, but I have hit one in a bad location that happened last year. Me and my buddy was hunting at his spot during the rut. An 8pt was chasing does and came within 30yds of where we were setup. My friend who started filming, made a noise to stop him while i was at full draw, as I released my arrow the buck was still gradually moving on a slow paced walk. This put the shot back towards the gut and unfortanely where unable to recover that one.

Re: Ok Lets Admitt It!

Missed one time. It was last year at a 135" buck. I didn't have a rangefinder at the time and judged the distance at 30 yds. My arrow zipped right under his chest. Went back the next day with my brother's rangefinder and ranged the distance at 35 yds. Now I have my own, so I have no reason to misjudge distances. But I've always got an excuse why I miss. grin.gif

Re: Ok Lets Admitt It!

Deer turned as I pulled the trigger

Buck fever

Bow shot to slow for a fully alert to my presence deer

Rushed the shot

Took a stupid shot

Several deflections off of limbs

Missed judged yardage (shot it for 45 and it was 51 yards)

This is just a few reasons for me, as with any longtime bowhunter. You'll have just about anything happen while in the woods and your at full draw. Never under estimate Murphy's Law. "If it can happen it will!" My all time favorite is the one, "Well I had all of my pins on the deer and it was only about 15 yards!" I've never used this one, but have heard it used plenty of times. LOL

Re: Ok Lets Admitt It!

I hate to admit it , but I missed at 8 yards. Buck was working to me, had the opp. at 25 yrds and waited because I knew he was going right past the stand. when he got to 8 yards broadside with nothing in the way, no wind. I punched the release, threw my bow arm, jerked my head, and a couple of more things i can't remember. Shot over him. That was the most humbling one, I thought I was over the brain fade buck fever. *LOL*
