Been gone a couple weeks!

Well I have to say that I have missed this place and all of you guys and gals.

Last week was our anniversary so originally we had a cruise set to leave out of New Orleans on Sept. 5........well when Katrina hit they sent us an update and changed our port to Galveston. So no biggy....just a little further to drive. Well we booked a hotel in Texas about half way between here and Galveston for Sunday night and were set to leave on the 4th.

Well late Saturday afternoon I am sitting at the house taking care of some last minute things and the phone rings. It is Carnival canceling our cruise. The lady just told me that all the ships out of Galveston had been pulled to New Orleans for hurricaine relief.

Now don't get me wrong. I wasn't upset at the reason they were canceling our cruise, but the way the lady on the phone was acting was causing my blood pressure to go out the roof. At first I ask her if there was another cruise leaving from any other port that she could squeeze us on.....she "barked" at me and told me it wasn't her place to fix the problem....I then "barked" back and told her she just called me and basically told me that I lost the only chance of going on vacation.......she should have to "deal" with fixing the problem.

Anyways...she told me that we would be getting a full refund on the cost of the trip.....so I proceed to ask her when I can expect it. Well that is when I got a little upset. She said I that it should process in the next 6-8 weeks. Then I got really mad. I ask her why....once again she said....and I quote...."Not my problem."

So basically the lady had just told me that I had given her all the money we had saved up for a great vacation and now I don't have the money to go anywhere else and she wants me to wait for possibly 2 months to get my money back.

She then says well sir if it will make you feel better I can "award" you a $100 per person on board voucher for your next cruise if you book before Dec 06.

Anyways......I won't go any deeper into that conversation....because it went nowhere.

Well we ended up coming up with some extra money until the refund comes in and we spent a lovely week at Disney World in Orlando. Just me and the ole lady.....well actually we spent 5 days there and then drove to Panama City Beach for 3 days.....

Talking about a long needed break....man that is just what the doctor.

Now I just got to get on the ball getting things ready for opening day. It will be here before you know it.
