Orion_70
http://www.local6.com/education/4973102/detail.html SAN FRANCISCO -- A federal judge in San Francisco has declared it unconstitutional to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools. The judge, ruling in a lawsuit brought by Sacramento atheist Michael Newdow, ruled Wednesday that he is bound by precedent of the Ninth U.S.Circuit Court of Appeals. Newdow objected to the words "under God" in the pledge. Copyright 2005

Like these parents here that ruin it for the many,,,,the kids can't even celebrate Christmas or Halloween in school today because of the few... It's just too bad when kids can't be kids and have some fun because of a few idiot parents that have to be in total control.....

HuntingInMaine
Re: Pledge of Allegiance Declared Unconstitutional When I went to school (long time ago! LOL) students had the choice to say the pledge or not. If these kids aren't being forced to say the pledge, then I don't see what the big deal is. It's too bad that some people are using their children to push their agendas....must make the school day uncomfortable for them.

I think the pledge was modifed in the 50's to be under god. Really I think there are bigger issues. If there wasn't and Under god. the pledge would be modified to read. I aledge alligence to the flag of the united stats of america.. and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. not a huge difference I think it can be left alone, right now we need to address bigger issues than "Under God". There's people dieing in the streets and millions of homeless. I'm positive they don't care either way.

popgun
Re: Pledge of Allegiance Declared Unconstitutional The original Pledge of Allegiance -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands- one nation indivisible-with liberty and justice for all." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On September 8,1892, the Boston based "The Youth's Companion" magazine published a few words for students to repeat on Columbus Day that year. Written by Francis Bellamy, the circulation manager and native of Rome, New York, and reprinted on thousands of leaflets, was sent out to public schools across the country. On October 12, 1892, the quadricentennial of Columbus' arrival, more than 12 million children recited the Pledge of Allegiance, thus beginning a required school-day ritual. At the first National Flag Conference in Washington D.C., on June 14, 1923, a change was made. For clarity, the words "the Flag of the United States" replaced "my flag". In the following years various other changes were suggested but were never formally adopted. It was not until 1942 that Congress officially recognized the Pledge of Allegiance. One year later, in June 1943, the Supreme Court ruled that school children could not be forced to recite it. In fact, today only half of our fifty states have laws that encourage the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in the classroom! In June of 1954 an amendment was made to add the words "under God". Then-President Dwight D. Eisenhower said "In this way we are reaffirming the transcendence of religious faith in America's heritage and future; in this way we shall constantly strengthen those spiritual weapons which forever will be our country's most powerful resource in peace and war." After reading this, I know that The Pledge of Allegiance has not always been the way it is, but I think Eisenhower realized something truly Great was missing. I hate to see it go back to the original. ....popgun

No one comes to the Father except by me. So.... all you wide minded folks have minds just like the wide path described in the Bible. But you know the road to heaven is narrow. Just like my mind I guess. As for speaking english, our ancestors learned to speak it, because they were proud to be Americans. They understood to be united you embraced each other, not kept seperate. And as for the American muslims, that crap is outta here. We`re not Itilian-American or muslim American or african American, we`re American. The men who set the foundation for this nation were Godly men. Not religious. Going to church every Sunday forever doesn`t mean you know the Lord. The pharisees were extremely religious, Jesus was not. An awful lot of us are sick of the whining liberal stench that`s filling the streets of this country. The stench and puke that says we should abandon our heritage and let the pc crowd tell us we`re wrong to be American and not apologize for it. That we`re wrong to retain OUR Christian traditions because we might offend someone. That we shouldn`t utter the words "one Nation under God" in our schools. So go ahead and lol while some try to run this country into the ground. Some of us won`t stand by and let it happen. And one more time, anyone who is offended by it, you are more than free to live somewhere else. Otherwise, shut up and live with it, because we won`t apologize anymore. It`s tough to do the right things. It`s tough to disagree. You think you`re being considerate of people when you`re not telling them how things are going to end up for them if they don`t find Christ? You think that`s compassion? You think it`s compassion to tell people to keep laying back and counting on the government to take care of them, instead of learning to be self reliant? You really think the Lord should be kept out of politics? That`s how we`ve wound up with clinton sex scandals in the oval office, unborn babies being murdered in their mothers wombs, and planned parenthood giving underage girls abortions without their parents knowledge or consent. That`s real compassion.
