Thayer
I have never taken an animal with a bow, so far a bunny, squirrel, turkey, and a 140" deer have gotten away with close shaves in my 3 year bow hunting adventure. Would you be able to hold off on this guy or would you let it fly? Note, the area has good AG land, we do have a four point rule, but that is all the surrounding land owners abide by. What would you do, and, oh yeah...what does he score? Short brow buck

Reloader
Re: You guys seem to like to score em! Hunting for meat I would take him(looks nice and tender), but on a managment hunt I would pass(too young).
wtnhunt
Re: You guys seem to like to score em! Young deer, probably a 2 1/2 year old. Would also guess he would probably score right around 100.

spineshot
Re: You guys seem to like to score em! it is hard to wait on a nice deer like that. all the time in the stand and the effort put in scouting. The more times he walks in on you i bet your "trigger finger" will get itchy

Guest TheNumber1Young1
Re: You guys seem to like to score em! yep, i agree he would make a great first deer, but he is kind of young, in my area i shoot em, in another area where there are bigger deer i would let him go.it all depends on where you live. Rhino
Re: You guys seem to like to score em! You are hunting a state that has great potential as long as they have the time to mature. I agree that for Missouri he looks like a 2 year old buck that scores around 100. I'd let him walk here (where the deer don't get as big as Missouri bucks) and for sure there in Missouri. Bottom line though is you are hunting for your own personal satisfaction. If you would be happy with him it's your choice whether to take him or not. If you know you wouldn't, give him a chance to grow up and hunt for something you would be happy with.

This will be my first year to bowhunt so it would be hard for me to let him walk. Good luck!
HitRmisS
Re: You guys seem to like to score em! I havn't taking anything with my bow yet either and i would definately take a buck like that as a first bow kill but it all depends on what you want to take
Thayer
Re: You guys seem to like to score em! Hey TD, Good to see you! Did Katrina mess you up? This deer is going to get a pass, I also think he is around 100". I really want his daddy! His Daddy is one of the animals that has escaped from my bowhunting efforts. Just grazed his backside. I had a trail camera out all spring and summer and was able to track this guys antler grow from button to where he is now. That was pretty cool! Good hunting to you all! I'm off to bowhunt in NE MO!
