I really don't think there is all that much recoil difference between the 2 of them. How about a 7mm-08, or a .25-06. Great performing rounds with very managable recoil. The recoil isn't that big of a deal to me really,,,I just didn't realize it until I shot with out a thick cold weather jacket on....it was very warm and wore just a T-Shirt....needless to say Im not a very bulky guy and there not much in my shoulders to pad a heavy recoil..... Why I say .270 is that it's a common rifle, and can be had with a true rifle barrel ( instead of the carbine model I have now ) I know that the models above that you mentioned have the same features but Im just not familiar with them that's all..... I am not a little guy and recoil bothers me too. I got tired of the my 300 UltMag on the bench so I sold it and got a '06. Go to Chuck Hawkes.com and he has some detailed recoil and ballistic info. Recoil on my model 700 .270 with 150 grain core lokts is not bad at all, it has the factory pad that was on it when I bought the gun. Pachmayr decelerator recoil pads are pretty good, put one on my wifes savage, and it really helped.
