HOW TO - Put on a wrap

Well I'm definitely not an expert by any means but theres been alot of discussion as of late on how to fletch your own arrows, etc so I thought I'ld post the wrap part of it. I'll post another thread when I get pics taken of how to fletch an arrow also. If I've missed something, done something wrong or you just have more to add feel free to bring it up, this is so people can learn and maybe get involved in another area of archery.

Putting wraps on arrows is EXTREMELY EASY.

You'll need to wipe down your arrow shafts with soap and water (and then dry them) so there's no dust or oil residue on the shaft. Other than your arrow shaft you'll just need a foam mousepad and your wraps...

step1.jpg

Take one of the wraps off the paper and lay it sticky side up an the mousepad...

step2.jpg

Take your arrow shaft and line it up parralel to the wrap, whatever distance from the nock you prefer (I have mine butting up to the nock)

step3.jpg

Now start rolling the shaft over the wrap, applying light downward pressure.

step4.jpg

step5.jpg

Continue rolling, proceeding until the entire wrap is on the arrow shaft. The light pressure you applied against the mousepad should have pushed out any small air bubbles. If you see any small air bubbles after your done wrapping a shaft you can apply pressure with your finger to work them out.

And that's all there is to it!!!

Here's a pic of the finished wrapped and fletched arrow. Like I said I'll post a how to on fletching once I can get some pics.

That takes some skill Gary, taking a picture with your teeth while wrapping arrows with both hands! You continue to amaze me! grin.giftongue.gifgrin.gif

Nice wraps bud! cool.gif

Apparently he has a third arm. grin.gif

I love the color combo. Should be pretty easy to follow in the woods.

I have a question. Since arrows come in different diameters, how do you know if the wrap will cover the whole arrow, or even overlap them ? I haven't looked at them anywhere, so I don't know if you buy them pre-sized to your arrow confused.gif

thanks

Most wraps come at about 1.25" wide which will cover 99% of all arrows.

However you can get some guys to custom cut for you on request if you do not like an overlaying edge or whatever.

I have never noticed the over lay being an issue what so ever.

Love the color combo. Does the same go for carbon?

How do you like the quickspins with broadheads.

You can wrap aluminums or carbons... I did notice that the quickspins tightened up my groups with my fieldpoints, so far my broadheads are going right where I'm aiming too, so I have no complaints.

Re: HOW TO - Put on a wrap

Mirage - Fletching glue to wraps just fine, there are many different color and patterns of wraps. I've shot white wraps and orange wraps, there are also colored reflective wraps which are pretty cool. My opinion is I can track where my arrow hits a deer better with a wrap on, also if you don't get a passthrough you can definitely see where your arrow is. It's also easier to find it after a pass thru or a miss. (by the way thanks for being kind and not insinuating this before) smile.gif

I shoot a prong rest and don't have a problem, I don't see how a whisker biscuit would affect the wrap.
