First attempt at "spot and stalk" with a bow

Just got back from my land lease. I tried a spot and stalk bowhunt for the first time this evening on a 150 acre soybean field. I got within 30 yds of five does and tried to draw on them but the lead doe saw me through the cover and busted me. I have killed many deer from treestands and stalked a few with a rifle with success but stalking with a bow seems to be a little more thrilling, and a whole lot more of a challenge. I guess the good news is the deer didn't quite know what I was so they weren't too spooked, just uneasy enough to doubt their safety. Maybe i'll have better luck next time.

Re: First attempt at \"spot and stalk\" with a bow

The last 2 bow deer on my property were spot n stocked.

Doing it while its rainy helps big time.

Cuts down on sounds and scent, plus they really hit the green fields during the rain, at least on my property, so hunting a tree stand is almost not worth your time.

Spot-n-stock. Its a blast!
