plannerman
Re: Thompson Center Shoot 2 A-bolt and an Encore 209x50. All excellant guns. The only deciding factor is what and where you are hunting. The fit and feel of the Encore cannot be beat. If you can get the fear many in these parts have of "only having 1 shot", the Encore is tough to beat.
superguide
Re: Thompson Center I don't own one myself but I've guided several guys who shoot them-I guess if they are comfortable with taking a single shot on a hunt costing several thousand dollars that tells you something about the rifle-one is definately on my wish list. robk
Re: Thompson Center the encore is one of the best rifles your going to buy no matter which calibers you get. i don't work for tcarms but wish i did lol i would have every barrel out there lol. i have the 25-06 and the 209x50 barrel for bloack powder and i won't have another main gun set up to hunt with. the standard barrels are very accurateand will do a great job for you. you will need to practice loading and unloading if you want to get proficent in reloading after a missed shot and be able to get a 2nd shot if need be. i had always wanted one and i am glad i bought it the only thing you need to do is buy barrels and the trigger i have is dead on and no play at all in it and it is about 3 lbs or pull to get the bullet down range. you won't regret buying one i don't think good luck rob k
Strut_Buster
Re: Thompson Center I'd go with the A-bolt. The action can't be beat. Icy slick, accurate and reliable. Also alot more asteticaly pleasing.
EIGHTPOINT
Re: Thompson Center Love my 209 x 50 and I am just sighting in my .308 barrel. Find the right bullet and these guns will shoot exceptionally well. I really like the one bullet shot. it adds to the hunt to know you don't have 4 or 5 rounds in the magazine. tped
Re: Thompson Center I think you would love it. I have been a T/C fan for years and have owned several. Currently have the Encore in 209x50 with .223 & .284 barrels and also a custom shop 14" barrel gold inlayed handgun in 35 Whelen. Alot of fun and they all shoot real well. Don't feel handicapped with only 1 shot as the first one counts the most and unless hunting lions and big bears that might eat you the single shot should bring on a greater challenge
AJ
Re: Thompson Center I guess I am the oddball. I have an Encore and its only ok. Would I buy another? No way. If I want a single shot multiple barreled gun, I will take a NEF/H&R Handi Rifle over the Encore. The barrels are a heck of a lot cheaper and on average, more accurate. The advantage the TC has is it can be configured as a handgun if it is registered properly.
