Guest Defcon15
Here is a buck that I don't know what to do with. His body looks like he is an older deer. I have heard that if a buck doesn't have brow tines after a certain age, he should be taken out of the gene pool. Based on his antlers and body size, what do you think? Cull him this season (if given a chance) or not? Thanks.
huntinsonovagun
Re: Cull Buck or Not??? Yes, I would cull this deer. Looks like a big fork-horn to me. He's at least 2 1/2, if not 3 1/2....probably will be nothing much more than a big forky.

wtnhunt
Re: Cull Buck or Not??? Looks like probably a 3 1/2 year old to me. I try to only shoot 3 1/2 yearold or older bucks, so he would be a shooter.

SaskMan
Re: Cull Buck or Not??? looks like a meat buck to me. It must be nice to be allowed to shoot more than 1 buck. Here there is no such thing as a cull buck.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Cull Buck or Not??? I agree he's a cull. And yes, missing brow tines at any age, but especially in older deer, is a good indicator of genetic inferiority.

Guest Defcon15
Re: Cull Buck or Not??? I just checked my camera again and got a picture of this deer without velvet. I realized that the first picture did not show one of his pts on his left anter. Do you still think he is a cull based on rack/body?
