Jeramie
Im not against mechanicals by any means but I have to say cjsportsman has a point. Id stick with a fixed blade. Either muzzy or thunderhead. I think most would agree that they are basically the same caliber of broadhead just different manufacturers. Good luck! KSBOWHUNTER
Re: Broadhead for Black Bear I use the spitfire 100 gr. for deer, but I think I would use a fixed blade for bear, but I have seen some shows on the Outdoor Channel where they took some pretty nice black bears with the spitfire heads. buckee
Re: Broadhead for Black Bear Go with a good fixed blade (not retractable blades) and make sure their sharp. A good tip Jim (you probably already know) is to wait till that front leg is forward, before taking your shot. Those leg bones and shoulders on a bear are tough. Tony
Re: Broadhead for Black Bear i shot my bear a few years ago with a Muzzy 100 gr 3 blade on a easton 2413. that is what my bow shot the best at that time .i would stay with a fixed blade type of broadhead . i would have to say what ever broadhead that flies good for you is more important than hype. accuracy is the most important factor here. what you use to bowhunt for deer will be perfect for bear . make sure to practice from a treestand at a lot of close range steep angle shots . my shot was at 6 yds and from a 17 ft treestand. bghunter777
Re: Broadhead for Black Bear You will get a hundred different opinions I will tell you I love Rockets and think there steelhead will do more than enough to take a bear if you like fixed heads I would go with Rockets ultimate steel. shot placement is more important than anything. robk
Re: Broadhead for Black Bear if it was me and they legal it would be 100 or 125 grain steelheads from rocket.if illegal in the state i am hunting then it would be rocket ultimate steel 100's or 125 either of those is a great head to use for bear rob k

Tony
Re: Broadhead for Black Bear jimt if your muzzy 3 blades arent flying right then its more than likely that your need to tune those babies for the arrows. and how do we do this ? we take the inserts out and put a broadhead on the insert. then we put the insert back in the arrow shaft and spin test them . if they do not spin perfectly then turn the insert a 1/4 turn and spin again. do this until you find the spot that the broadhead and insert spin perfectly. when you find it glue it back into the same postion. then do the same thing with the other broadheads you have. you wont believe how much this helps. what it does is make all of your broadheads and arrows in tune. then it just a simple matter of sighting them in . my broadheads fly just like my field tips. hope this helps and its a lot cheaper than buying new broadheads .
