Re: Scope Mount

Does your gun have the newer style front sight as in the picture or is the front edge squared off?

If your gun is the same as pictured it is already drilled and tapped. If you have the older model, there are a couple mounts available.

Let me know which you have and I'll track down a mount for you.

Check out Jack Weigand's Web Site. I have a Weigand Scope mount on my Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter and it is rock solid. I would buy from him again with no hesitation...

Weigands stuff is top notch. They make a very nice product for sure.

Re: Scope Mount

A good smith would be able to hide the drilled and tapped holes under the original sight when it's installed. The problem is, if you were wanting to go with one of the Weigan type mounts is the front screw size is different from the old style S&W sights and the new. This would present a problem.

I really can't answer how much a smith would charge for this service. I get my small machine shop services for free. If I were to hazard a guess I would say $30-$50 would be in the ballpark. I've known guys that charged a flat rate of $10 per hole drilled and tapped if they already had the required tools.
