HarvDog
Re: pc problem,,,help Are you running any sort of virus protection/scanning software? If so, you might want to run it on your computer. Also, how much disk (hard drive) space do you have available?
VermontHunter
Re: pc problem,,,help [ QUOTE ] When ever i receive email with either a picture or text, i can not open or look at it, any suggestions? [/ QUOTE ] Way too little info to diagnose properly,,,, But I would say either you don't have the proper programs installed to view these files,,,,,,,or on the worse case senario side of things you just opened an attachment that contains a virus..... NEVER EVER OPEN ATTATCHMENTS.....even if you think it's from someone you know...... Hopefully it's not a virus....

buckee
Re: pc problem,,,help [ QUOTE ] i can open mail, everything works fine, i just can't open an attachment a friend sent me. [/ QUOTE ] Sometimes the attachment sent by a friend, requires a certain program to open it and view it, which you don't have installed on your computer. If you really "NEED" or want to see what it is, ...email the friend that sent it and ask what it is and if he/she can send it in a different format. HarvDog
Re: pc problem,,,help Try detaching/saving a document or picture that you received via email and that you know is safe and clean from viruses. Then try opening it completely outside of the email program. By the way, what email program are you using anyway?
too_pointer
Re: pc problem,,,help Its possible you have them blocked and don't know it. Your virus detection can do that if not set up right. too_
huntrman
Re: pc problem,,,help Just a thought, but maybe you don't have let me view attachments enabled. I am assuming you are using Outlook Express, so here is how you enable it. But I must forwarn you, like others have said, DO NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS FROM PEOPLE YOU DO NOT KNOW. In Outlook Express go to Tools, then Options. Once in here you will see a bunch of tabs at the top. Click on the Security Tab. Now under Virus Protection in that window you will see a box that is either checked or unchecked that says "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus." If there is not already a check in the box next to this, put a check in it, click Apply, then click Ok. Now exit out of Outlook Express. Open Outlook Express once again and try to view/save your friends attachment. But like I said, DO NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS FROM PEOPLE YOU DO NOT KNOW. If you do want to open an attachment, another safety precaution you can take is to save the attachment where you can find it, right click it and click something like "Scan for virus"(depending on what virus scanner you have). This way it will scan the file before you open it. Let me know if what I just explained worked, or if I made it too complicated, which is very possible. lol. "Do not allow attachments to be saved or open that could potentially be a virus." If this box is checked you will not see anything that is sent to you! Mind you! You MUST, repeat MUST, keep your anti-virus updated!!! Oops! Looks like huntrman said the same thing! Oh well, thats what I get for not reading all the posts! LOL!!!
