horst
just listening to the news.FEMA has leased a Carnival cruiseship to house 150 of the refugees from Katrina in.I believe they said it was 150 million dollars to lease that ship and 2 more just like it. I gotta say, thats stupid.150 million dollars to house 150 people on a boat they dont even own at the end of this. How many houses can you buy for that kinda money? How many apartments could you put up for that?I wonder if anyones actually keeping track of how this disaster moneys being handled or if thier just making this decisions on the spur of the moment. They coulda saved 75 million by just giving each person half a million dollars to relocate on.I know that sounds stupid but its a fact. So now these people are in a ship, docked at sea, and theres another hurricane on the way. Please, help me understand the thought process here cuz it dont make any sense to me. oo_buck
Re: Thats just nuts That's alot of money. BUT, am I misunderstanding this? The way I read it it would be 3 ships housing 150 each for $150Mil. This is still a LOT of money, but it would be for more people..... I'd rather have the half million to relocate.... ThethirdI
Re: Thats just nuts One of those ships is housing relief workers on it. The victims of the storm for the most part were not interested in staying on the ships. I agree that the money could have been better spent. It is outrageous!!!! horst
Re: Thats just nuts Twodogs, stick to the subject or shut up.The post aint about 9/11, it isnt about rifle hunting and it certainly isnt about Iowa. Its about mishandling federal emergency aid money, or in your case apparently you think its money well spent. I was a little off, the cost was $192 million for a 6 month lease. http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050919/NEWS0110/509190323 Since you brought it up Iowas cut into square 1 mile sections, theres numerous houses, farm buildings, and livestock in almost all of them.Where exactly would you like to see people using rifles? And when Youre state gets as many B&C entries in the books as Iowa has you can feel free to criticize our deer regulations, untill then worry about your own deer herd. horst
Re: Thats just nuts [ QUOTE ] Also my ex is from iowa, which fuels my fire as well. [/ QUOTE ] Ahhh, say no more Actually, I just looked at some of your pics, nice deer.I gotta apologize to, Im trying to quit smoking and kinda snapped Some areas of Iowa high powers could be safely used in, for the most part its to flat and the party hunting mentalities to great for it to be safe.Matter of fact high powers are gonna be legal in southern Iowa for does during the late season. Im not sure what feed lot rules are in place that are bothering you but it could be a fun debate if you wanna post about em.
