Guest Clay008
I am thinking about purchasing a Horton Explorer XL 150 crossbow? Does anyone know anything about this crossbow? Plus any other suggestions or input on crossbows would be a great help. Thanks, Clay

browtine2
Re: Crossbow I have a Barnett Demon that is very accurate. You might want to check out the Barnett Revolution it has adjustable cheek piece and adjustable stock length, this can be a plus. You can check them out on ebay they run $325 to $380. Hope you enjoy your crossbow, no matter what you buy. good hunt'in

Guest Clay008
Re: Crossbow Sorry for the delay I have been a little busy. I purchased the Horton Yukon SL. I tried to shoot it some Sunday but it started to rain so I didn't shoot it much. The first shot was pretty funny though. I completly misjudged the distance and shot over the target. Which really isn't all that funny but, when you hear the bolt ricochet off three or four trees and find it standing straight up in the middle of the woods it becomes funny. I am going out this afternoon to shoot it some more, I will let you know how it goes. Have a good one. Clay

Shaun_300
Re: Crossbow Congrats on your new crossbow, my cousin has that exact same one and he loves it! They're a really nice crossbow, and they don't break the bank too bad! I do not own a crossbow, but I did hunt with a friend's once, and ended up getting a little 6 pointer with it. It was an Excalibur Exomag, the recurve style. It's also a nice shootin crossbow.
Guest Clay008
Re: Crossbow Thats really cool. I wish I could say I borrowed my friends crossbow and shot a little 6 pointer. I took the bow out last night and it shot well at 30 yards. I was able to shoot tight groups and, I shot the bullseye out of two targets. My friend was there and he was shooting tight groups also. I would recommend this bow to anyone in the market. I will keep you posted on how it does in the long run.

too_pointer
Re: Crossbow Thats great Clay I'm a xbow user myself. I have a tenpoint xbow, with an Excalibur scope on it. It shoots great but is heavy. Did you mention if you had any scope or red dot on yours ? I hope you enjoy it, it is a fun sport, good luck with it too_
Guest Clay008
Re: Crossbow I do not have a scope. I checked out some of the bows in the store with the scope and they are nice. I will probably end up getting one. I don't think it is going to be this year though.
johnf
Re: Crossbow I've got a horton w/scope and love it. Make sure when you do draw down on a deer that you move the saftey very slowly. If you don't it will make a pretty louds snap. It's not something you notice much when you practice, but it'll give you away in the woods. Also, I have to use mechanical broadheads in mine to keep the groups consistant. Some of the fixed blades I used would float 2 or 3 feet at 20 yards, the mechanicals are withing an 1" of the field points at 25 yards. I would get a rangefinder if you don't have one yet. One of the cheap mechanicals is enough for bow hunting.
