Re: GAS GOING WAY UP!!!!! FILL UP NOW!

I tell you what is rediculous, I just went to check the HHH PO Box and saw that my wife's car was at a 1/4 tank. I went to the gas station and it looked like the seventies all over again. The lines were 5 to 6 cars deep at each pump and plastic bags on each regular unleaded pump - all that was left was Special and Super. This was at all 4 gas stations I tried. Next I am sure we will be hearing about fist fights at the gas stations. Yes, they are predicting strong winds and possible tornadic activity all the way up in Dallas through Sunday, but geez.

Re: GAS GOING WAY UP!!!!! FILL UP NOW!

ok, I have calmed down now blush.gif But seriously, I have read that the issue is the refineries. not availablity of crude oil. There is one major one in Houston and one here in Dallas. The ones that were hit in N.O., are back on line I believe. But if the one in Houston is put out of commission by Rita, the supply and demand that was mentioned previously is put to the test so it is not necessarily price gouging - pure and simple. There are too many restrictions to make refining business profitable (therefore less refineries, less competition, higher prices). It's feast or famine in that business - right now it is feast, but for a long time, it was famine for that industry. These costly restrictions were for safety but mainly for clean air and such. So what do you want, lower gas prices or cleaner air (and such). confused.gif

We were $2.39 a gallon this morning.

[/ QUOTE ]

Have not seen it that low around here in a while. Lowest here was $2.48, when I filled up the yukon the other day before any thoughts of Rita, my truck is empty, sure hope it has not jumped here again yet. Last I saw yesterday on the way home with the wife in the Yukon signs had $2.68 here in town.

yeah feast for them famine for us

The article did say that the only reason it is "feast" right now for the refineries is that they are producing at a 100% which normally never happens. Supply and demand. Nothing I gripe about in this thread is going to change the situation. I'm with snapper on this one. I've heard enough.

Your way of life is not affected. BS

[/ QUOTE ]

Sure its affected...but why complain? If the biggest problems you have in life is to complain every stinkin' day about the price of gas...then you got it pretty darn good!!!!!!!

I hear people at work complaining about gas prices...I hear about gas prices on the radio on my way home from work...I hear about prices on the news when I turn on the tv...I come here to talk hunting and guess what...more complaining about gas prices.

You have choices...Amish aren't complaining about price of gas. wink.gif

BTW...filled up my truck last night...cost me $65...thought of this post and laughed!!!!!!!!

Call your senators and congressmen and tell them this is wrong and how it is affecting your life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness!

[/ QUOTE ]

So you have the "right" to buy gas at a price you want to pay?

I'm sorry, but I don't see the complaints...no one is forcing anyone to buy gas! Its supply and demand...I don't like paying almost $3 a gal. but on the other hand...if I feel I need it...I pay for it.

Its still cheaper than a barrel of super glue...where is the outcry for that?

Don't take my post wrong...I understand people feel the pinch when the price of gas goes up...but I'm really tired of hearing about it. Only thing happening in the world is gas prices...can't even watch the news anymore. We hear nothing (little at best) about the war. We still have american soldiers dying everyday...but the first thing that is on the news...gas prices!

[/ QUOTE ]

Sorry Snapper, but I respectfully disagree with you. How much demand is there for super glue and will that gallon of super glue get you back and forth from work? How many gallons of superglue are need to get groceries and take your children back and forth to school? Take you to and from work? It's price gouging. The cost of gasoline went up because of an impending storm. Not because of a shortage, but because they know everyone will be purchasing it after the storm. I can understand the prices going up when the refineries are damaged, but it hasn't occurred yet. What if this storm tracked a different direction all of a sudden or weakened to the pont of doing no damage? Would the prices come way down lower than before they just went up. I mean after all, they just raised them because the storm was coming and made much more profit than normal, then could then afford to lower them more than they would have been seems to me anyways. JMO though.

Re: GAS GOING WAY UP!!!!! FILL UP NOW!

You folks are missing my point...there are people in this country who just lost a son or daughter in a war. There are people in this country who lost family, pets, homes...everything because of a storm. Crap happens everyday that isn't good and we are complaining of spending a dollar or two more a gallon for GAS? Come...I worry about much bigger things that I may have some say in.

I'm not bothering my paid officals to complain because my truck or SUV cost too much to drive.

Disagree all you like...but if everyone needed a barrel of superglue...the world would end!!!!!!

Re: GAS GOING WAY UP!!!!! FILL UP NOW!

Did you ever think that the war and the lack of the Bush administration's ability to control the Iraqi flow of oil might have anything to do with it. Is this why our sons and daughters are still dying over there?

No, I don't have it pretty darn good. I am sick and tired of being held up every day by someone with a pen and having to bust my butt for a pay check that gets smaller and smaller because of their thievery. Should we all lay down and let them keep the boot to our necks? Its not just the gas, bud! My paid officials do and will hear from me!

Re: GAS GOING WAY UP!!!!! FILL UP NOW!

The refineries in the gulf were closed to avoid severe damage due to Rita.......after the storm passes they plan to restart them which will take about a week.....this is where this spell of increases comes from.....the station owners have to raise prices ahead of time to make the money they will need to pay for their next shipment............if you don't like this here's what you do. FILL UP NOW.......then drive as little as you can for the next week.
