HuntingInMaine
I was brought up in a family of hunters and my mother taught us how to clean the birds and other small game that dad brought home. I went out a few times, but didn't catch the hunting bug until many years later when I started dating a guy who is a die hard hunter. He got me out shooting again, and four years ago I started hunting with him. She needs to be comfortable and accurate with the gun before you even think about getting her out hunting. Then tailor the hunting trips to her preferences. I have a son who hates early mornings, so I go out and come back later in the morning to take him out. Make it a fun trip, later on, after she is hooked, she'll want to go on the tougher hunts....Good luck, hope she loves it as much as the rest of us women do! And don't worry about her redecorating, if she gets into hunting you might find her ordering some cabelas stuff to compliment your "man den" theme....lol
ladydiehard
Re: Question for the Ladies?????? My parents took me to our woods as a kid. We would make firewood, pick berries, or simply go for a walk and enjoy nature. During small game season, my dad took me squirrel and partridge hunting. My natural love for the outdoors was fed by trips to the woods. My natural love for adventure and a challenge was fed with small game hunting. This eventually led to deer hunting. My hunting group now includes my husband, uncle and cousins and we enjoy simply being out in the woods or sitting around the wood stove in the cabin, and telling story after story even if we never fire a shot. My dad is up in years now and lives out of state. But I talked to him on the phone the other night and he said he has his calendar marked for the November gun season here in WI. Its a family tradition and he just can't stay away.
