VTbowman
Another bear hunting question. I have heard that bears do respond to a predator call, but not sure how well. (???) I was planning on using a diaphram mouth call, used for turkeys, but as a squeeling rabbit sound. I have been practicing in the truck on the way to work and I got a good sound now but was wondering if its worth it to try this for bears? I am confident I can get a yote to peek out at least but not really looking to ruin a bear hunt on popping yotes. (Unless its boring out there. LOL) Thanks! superguide
Re: Calling bears???? Have you heard of 'Depends' if that old bear decides to respond to your call-you might need them. My buddy was calling one with a blade of grass once and she stood right up looked then came right for us. I wasn't going to shoot her but I chambered a shell-he said he wasn't nervous till he heard that lol.
VTbowman
Re: Calling bears???? Did you see the bear or cold calling? What the heck, if things are slow I will throw some wrecked rabbit songs out there and see what-sup.
superguide
Re: Calling bears???? Ty called this big boar to within 30 yards of us by squeeking a blade of grass-cold calling might work but it's nice to see the bear first so you know where he's coming from. The only thing that creeps in quieter than a bear is fog lol.
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Calling bears???? I have watched several bear hunts where they use the calls and have great success I think it has a lot to do with the time of year and that sort I guess. VTbowman
Re: Calling bears???? Well I tried it out and had no bears show. I do think the area was pushed pretty hard the 1st few weeks of the season and then the corn was chopped which was an obvious sign of where they "were" eating at one time.
