HarvDog
Anyone ever do a camo job on the stocks on their shotguns? If so, care to share how you did it and how long it took? Maybe even pix?
AJ
Re: Camo Stocks I have done a few. One rifle (H&R Ultra Comp) and a pair of shotguns (Browning BPS & Mossberg 835). I camoed the entire thing, not just the stocks. I used flat spray paint. I fould a few drab colors and grabbed a couple leaves off the trees and had at it. Actually, first off I degreased the gun with acetone. This should be done sparingly on the wood as it will eat the finish. Once thats done, I sprayed it with some flat black, added some leaves and sprayed some flat brown, added some more leaves and sprayed with flat green. You could also go to the craft store and get a stencil of leaves to use for different patterns. Get creative and use your imagination. HarvDog
Re: Camo Stocks Awesome info AJ. Care to post a picture or two for reference...and of course to show off your work?!?!
AJ
Re: Camo Stocks Here is my 835. I didn't go for a fancy job, just to cut the shine on my turkey gun. Too often people go too small with their pattern. Larger blocks of colors will break up the outline of the gun.
HarvDog
Re: Camo Stocks Very nice AJ. I think I'm going to give this a try on the old stocks of my 870.
HarvDog
Re: Camo Stocks Hey AJ... After I finish painting the camo scheme, do I need to finish the stock with anything else?
AJ
Re: Camo Stocks It depends on how shiny you want it. I don't do anything else to the gun after using the camo paint for the finish. If it gets scratched or wears off, just give it a blast with the spray can. Lets see the pics.

AJ
Re: Camo Stocks It will work just fine. If you want to see how effective it is, have someone put it the woods but in plain view and tell you a general area to look. If you can see it, it needs some work. If you can't find it from a short distance, its just fine. Of course you won't have the stocks anymore since they will be lost.

HarvDog
Re: Camo Stocks Of course the only problem right now is I only have one 870 and I really like the stocks Tominator did for me. Looks like I'll need to get another 870.
doubleA
Re: Camo Stocks Painted this custom M 700 in about 30 minutes using Krylon flat camoflage colors. Cost was $6 plus my time.(cheap) It's not the greatest and will show wear in time but it's easy to redo. Life is good, Give God the Glory....doubleA
