Here is my bear from this year: I hadn't planned to hunt this year, but buddies were calling talking antelope, deer, and I just got jealous: I called a buddy and booked the hunt....Hunted last Friday and Saturday: This was the 3rd bear I saw on Saturday night:

Taken with a PSE Triton, Ultimate Steel broadheads, and a ton of advice from you guys on the forums!

This first pic shows the reason this bear was harvested: The big White "O" on his chest! I had not shot a bear with any white markings: So like the far side cartoon....bummer of a birthmark mr. bear!

This is a picture of my buddy and guide Bob: Bob runs a great operation and knows how to put guys on bears! I had lived near Bob when for a number of years when I bear hunted, now that I moved he manages to keep those bears coming in!

Thanks guys, I thought I had the "bear itch" out of my system, but I guess not! I used to live in Northern MN, and moved 200 miles south....I used to chase bears with my bow and always had a blast! Since I wasnt' living there, I just called an old neighbor of mine, he guides in Northern MN, for bears and runs an ice fishing operation in the winter: I hunted with him last year and didn't take a bear (I have got fussy over the years)...this bear came in and I had decided to let it walk: 13 yards and he was free, until he turned and I saw the white "O"....JB: Bummer of a birthmark, indeed! wink.gif

If anyone is looking for a good time on a bear hunt for a heckuva lot less then heading to Canada, ol' Bob has a great bunkhouse and some awesome baits that ANYONE can buy a license to hunt: He is located South of Warroad and Roseau in Minnesota: If anyone has any interest in bear hunting, this guy does it like I used to...works hard, gets bears in, and provides everything a person could want, without the worries of drawing a tag: BowTechTurkey: He is about 6 hrs....north of the cities: And if you have any interest, I can help you out!

Bears (In my opinon) are a great adversary for the first time bow hunter, because you have plenty of time to make the shot you want: They come in and let you watch them, waiting for the right shot! Good times for sure!

Hey Clay, the Fred Bear "Code", you sent also harvested a bear this year: The string was replaced this fall, and my buddy got his first bear with it! Man, I love the fall!

Hey Shaun, and any others who have never lived in bear country: EVERYONE shoots a 300# bear grin.gif just ask them: The year my buddies shot 4 bears: Including a MONSTER 318, the state average of registered bears was 137#'s......A nice bear will weigh in at 140# (field dressed)....dang nice bear! The bear I was lucky to harvest was 162# not a MONSTER, but very respectable.....I have had friend show up with a "250#" bear and it honestly isn't over 120#....I wasn't going to shoot this guy....at 162#, but he will make a find mount with the white "O".....Out of 17 bears killed withing 3 miles of my doorstep (by me or buddies) Truly, only 2 were around that 300# mark:....One was made into a full body mount, the other a rug: I can't stand to see the waste of a bear.....hunt with me, and I hope you plan to enjoy the hide: Sorry for getting off on a tangent, but I showed pictures to a buddy, and he was in awe of my 450# bear......WRONG, it was 162...they are hard to judge on the paw, and harder to judge when the hang......a scale is my only recourse! confused.gif I wish others would follow the same! Anywho, not my biggest, but a great hunt! grin.gif
