Turkeygirl
Do any of you ever hear the phone ring, you pick it up and say "hello", and no one answers? Just this morning I get up, settle down to watch some hunting on ESPN, and the phone rings at 9am. I'm thinking "who calls us at 9am on Sunday morning?" I answer, saying "Hello, Ruth speaking" and get nothing back. We've had this happen before but this time I hear stuff in the backround then I hear a voice say "did you hear that?" Stupid stupid people whoever they are! I only know of 2 possibilities of who it could be who would do such a thing and have our phone number, but I'm not going to accuse anyone yet. Probably a bunch of bored kids somewhere dialing any number they think of. Still, it is really annoying and not a nice thing to do. Anyone else have this problem? JoshM
Re: Silent phone calls We get like 1 or so a week. They are really annoying. But maybe the person is just shy that is calling?
TreeWalker
Re: Silent phone calls They are automated telemarketer calls......what it does is determines when you are most likely home, by keeping track of when you pick up.......then you will start getting more calls at those most probable times, most likely from a real person those next times around....... Go to Walmart and get an el-cheapo Telemarketer zapper......they simply plug into an extra phone jack, and what they do is confuse their programming into thinking the number is no longer in service.........since installing ours nearly 6 months ago, we've gone from about 8-10 calls a day to ZERO.........it sure is nice to have piece and quite again..... And don't get me started on the do not call list......we're on it, and it never mattered.....

Rhino
Re: Silent phone calls Yep but it's almost always my ex-wife. My number is coded in her cell phone and she always forgets to disable the buttons when she throws it in her purse. Let that sucker bounce around and few times and there's no telling who she's liable to be calling. Keep answering it though Ruth because you never know when it could be Ed McMahon. [/ QUOTE ] Now that's funny right there It reminds me of the time I was driving home from work and this lady calls me, to tell me to quit calling her ..LOL. I guess my cell phone had dialled in an actual number, because my seatbelt was pressing against it, and kept redialling her. I was embarrassed more than anything else. Now I use the lock-keys feature.

archerjg
Re: Silent phone calls We get those every once in a while. A couple of years back there were some kids having a party and they kept calling numbers that they found in the phone book. They would call about every 10 to 15 minutes until their parents caught them the calls stopped after that. Archerjg
stevebeilgard
Re: Silent phone calls yea, i get those all the time. with heavy breathing. i say to my wife ... wtnhunt
Re: Silent phone calls We dont get calls like that very often, but do frequently get calls where the caller asks "who is this" to which my response is always "you called me, who are you?" Seems some folks around here frequently misdial the last four digits of our number trying to reach a local clinic and the local hospital. Tominator
Re: Silent phone calls Telemarketers on automatic dialers. Plenty of times their speed dialers pick up on another line and leave yours empty. I don't answer the phone anymore, I screen everything. I still get the occasional telemarketer even though I'm on the no call list.

leatherneck
Re: Silent phone calls Some days I really let them have it, but on others I will go along with them for ever and act like I am very interseted in what they have to say and then I let loose. I make them think I am some kind of nut or crazy man.... Well I guess I am, but thats beside the point!!
