Shaun_300
Re: varmint gun Definetly a .22-250! Check mine out.... Remington 700 BDL Heavy Barrel, .22-250 Rem, Redfield 6-18x scope! It sure puts a killin' on them groundhogs.
RangerClay
Re: varmint gun When I was deciding what to get for my first coyote gun I had decided to get 22-250. But I changed my mind and I got a .243. The caliber can double as an excellent deer rifle caliber as well. Ranger
huntinsonovagun
Re: varmint gun How about the new .204? SMOKIN' fast!!! A little on the small side IMO though. Buddy of mine just got one, I'm anxious to see what a coyote would do at a couple hundred yards. I suspect just wound it???

captkb44
Re: varmint gun The .204 works great past a couple hundred yards as long as you can place the shot where it needs to be. I agree with RangerClay on the .243 - you can shoot 55 gr bullets for varmints and then go to an 85 gr bullet or bigger for deer or hogs. I used a .243 for 15 yrs for coyotes and deer. Its now used for deer and hogs and the .204 is used for predators.
PAbowhunter86
Re: varmint gun I have always liked the .223 its affordable to shot and it never seems to give me a problem. I have gotten woodchucks and 400yds no problem.
