GobblerBuster618
Yes most of us have been there. Sitting in your treestand on those mornings where you are constantly thinking about how cold your feet and fingers are. What do you guys do to keep those toes and fingers warm on these days. Thanks guys i know you wont let me down!!

tedicast
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm For my fingers I use heat packs in my pockets with light gloves. When it is real cold I have ahand warmer that you put both hands into. I put 3 or 4 heatpacks in there, and I can ussually last all day in single digit weather. For my feet, I have found that wearing one pair of socks keeps me warmer than wearing 2 like I had for years. I think it is beacause my boots aren't as snug. When it real cold out I put a pair of foot warmers in my boots when I get to my stand. I get the kind that are complete insoles for your boots. They work awesome. Mach1
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm Feet - moisture wicking socks as a first layer, then wool socks (80%+ wool) as a second layer; boots-LaCrosse Burly 1200s (best boots I've ever had) Hands - light or medium weight gloves (fleece or fleece with Thinsulate) and a hand muff that goes around my waist; I've never used Hot Hands and I don't know why. Guest Bowtecher
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm Last year I used Artic Shield boot warmers. I never thought they'd work because they are so thin, but I was wrong! My only complaint is that last years model had velcro closures, but the new ones don't. I just wear light socks in my boots and the walk to my stand creates foot heat. Put them on when you get there and your feet will stay toasty warm all day. I can tell you that I'm the first to leave the woods because my feet just can't handle the cold, but I NEVER had that problem last year. hobie
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm I use hot hands for my hands and artic shield boot blankets for my feet .They are small and fit in your pocket but they work well
dg
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm I've used the 1000 gram thinsulate boots from wal-mart in teen temps. I've lasted 6 hours in a treestand. I use one pair of socks and tie my boots LOOSELY. You have to have some air around your feet. Especially the bottoms. Leave some wiggle room. Don't stand on them for a long time. Sit down and work the toes. As for hands, gloves and pockets. Gosh, I'm still trying to keep cool! longislandhunter
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm Last year was the first year I started using those "hot hands" packets and I will never go without them again. Worked like a charm and seemed to last a long time.
Guest whitetailarcher
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm It is not uncommon for there to be negative temps during peak of the rut around here. Since I already have gotten frost bite a couple years ago mine seem to get really cold really easy. I've tried hot hands and big gloves and they work, but the best thing I do is just to wear gloves to my stand once I get up there take them off and stuff my hands under my coat, under my bibs and using my body heat. I realize not the best way to be caught when a deer sneaks up on you, but your chances are much better to sit longer, than to be alert for only an hour. bulldawg
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm Liner socks first, and then a wool wicking sock rated for extreme cold temps on top of those. Boots are either Sorel packs rated for -100, or my Rocky boots with 1600 grams of Thinsulate in them. My hands usually stay pretty warm with a Thinsulate ultra insulated pair of gloves. When the temps hit lower than teens, I am not afraid to shake up some hot hands to add for warmth!
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm I bought a pair of insoles for my boots that accept hot hands in the toe area where you need the heat. I use hot hands in a muff that goes around my waist. Man that invented hot hands was a genius!! Can't beat them on cold mornings in the woods!! tallone
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm Wick away liner socks and a good pair of wool socks. One the the most important things is not wearing your boots too tight, it cuts off circulation and in my case it seems to make my feet sweat more. I used to wear double socks and my boots were tight and my feet would always get cold but I've learned better now and I haven't had an issue with my feet since. Warmers in that hand sock thing that you wear around your waist works good for my hands.
Master_Chief
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm For my hands I use a hand muff around my waist. I bought socks made of virgin merino wool from Filson's about 3 years ago and I have not had cold feet since. I wear that one pair of socks and rubber boots and it has been down around 10 deg and I have had no problem. Good luck.
Smitteken
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm I wear gore tex gloves. For the most part my hands stay warm except for my trigger fingers because that finger is made of leather on the gloves. I wear 1200 gram thinsulate browning rubber boots. They work pretty well too. But when it gets in the teens or below hot hands are miracle workers.

I have used foot warmers but they stop working in no time. I just bought me a pair of artic shields cause I'm desperate for something that works longer term. I use hot hands handwarmers in my pockets and carry a pair of gloves but usually don't wear them. Its my feet that have sent me to the cabin to warm up sooner than intended. Hoping to stick longer this year with the shields. Maybe all day!
AaronS
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm I'll cast another vote for the Arctic Shields. I bought a pair for my and another for my wife. They work great.
Guest Jeremiah_Johnson
Re: Keeping the Feet And Hands Warm I have silk camo gloves for the entire bow season. When the mercury drops I strap on a fleece hand muff - never needed a hand warmer.
